Maybe you're right, the early 1900's were still very racist and stayed that way long after he died. It just seems that Lovecraft was way more overt in his writing than other authors from that time (that i've read anyway).

Not sure where the fact that he's still popular comes into it, we still read and discuss authors from hundreds of years before Lovecraft. And it always seemed that his racism stuck out even compared to those.

I might just not have read enough American literature so Lovecraft's views could be par for the course. But anyway, I don't care that some guy 100 years ago wrote mean words about black people. I still read his stuff and think it's mostly pretty good.

The important part is not that Lovecraft was particularly racist. Or even relatively for his time. He stands in the world of literature as kinda backwards on his feelings on race. Because American literature at the time was pretty goddamn progressive. Still lots of Magic Negros. But like you get the idea. Authors were making an attempt. And here comes good ol Lovecraft writing shit based in his Xenophobia.

Mind you, it was all based in all of his phobias. Because he was goddamn cracked. But, some things are sexier to condemn.

Actually reminds me of a bit from Yahtzee in which several nerd icons from turn of the century go explore Darkest Africa. And he's like Lovecraft!? That dude fucking never left the house!

Bob is still excited about big crossover stuff in capeshit, as if big crossover stuff isn't worn out at this point.

If you have a story to tell where Spider-man meets the Punisher and its actually good, fine, thats cool. But crossovers being novel or exciting became passe the moment the rapists from Clockwork Orange and Gandalf got together to watch Bugs Bunny play basketball. There's nothing exciting anymore about teasing big crossovers from the corporate IP farms. Especially when they are tied to bad or mediocre stories.

But thank you Bob for continuing to consoom, you are helping to employ thousands of CG artists to make it looks like these actors we're actually in front of a green screen together, instead of filming scenes months apart during breaks from their other projects.

I can think of another person we think of from that period who was very overtly racist and still has influence today, former President Woodrow Wilson.

Historically, Lovecraft is important in the weird fiction movement in American literature that was centered around Weird Tales magazine. He actually had a lot of friends and managed to become something of a leader in his field. He even dated other writers and eventually married one. Considering his wife was Jewish, I wonder how much his published antisemitism was simply edge-lording. Lovecraft actually made more money as a ghost writer for others than he did for his own writing. His most famous client as a ghost writer was probably Harry Houdini. Right now, Lovecraft's writing is very popular in Japan, with the Call of Cthulhu Tabletop RPG being more popular in Japan than it is in every other country in the world combined and also far more popular there than Dungeons and Dragons is. I sometimes wonder if it's Lovecraft's popularity in Japan and to a lesser extent Europe that drives his continued popularity today, given I think the US literary establishment hates him.

Of course, this doesn't really have that much to do with MovieBob except that Bob is quite a horrible bigot himself, but Bob has no accomplishments really and as far as I can tell no friends. Bob was never in a romantic relationship with anyone, either. I wonder if people will be talking about Bob for many years after his death?
Wilson is even worst than that before going into politics he was an academic and pushed the Lost Cause Myth. It's amazing how lefties still suck this guys dick but the legacies of Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and even George Washington have all been called into question by left activist.

bat.png

I don't know what's more depressing about this. The fact one of the people I used to watch (Caped Joel) can still take Bob seriously despite him showing shit that often gets him heat. Or the fact he is going along with this despite this being nothing more than the fat fuck yet again proclaiming his hate toward Batman, and everyone that likes him.

Bob is still excited about big crossover stuff in capeshit, as if big crossover stuff isn't worn out at this point.

I think the most annoying part about this is how there is people like me that still enjoys the MCU. But the issue is again Bob has to run his mouth and put them in a place they do not belong. Filmmaking can be subjective, but there has to be some limits in place to how far you can go with your adoration.

Bob is simply a shallow asshole with no self retrain to his opinions. He is truly a manchild in a old man's body if he has to go out of his way to defend everything Feige does. You're not a critic when it doesn't suit you, eh blob?

The Dutch farmer protest is a protest against the modern environmentalist movement. The Dutch government wants farmers to stop raising certain animals and using certain fertilizers in the name of fighting Climate Change (TM), and yes, they are offering payment. However, this payment is a one-time thing and will do nothing to offset the long-term loss of profitability and (more importantly) food these farmers will experience. A similar policy was enacted in Sri Lanka, where the government is now being forced out by the starving masses. Now, this is speculation on my part, but these farmers have probably seen the writing on the wall and are trying to prevent things from getting that far (you just know that when the starvation comes, the government will scapegoat the farmers.)

Cinema Robert knows nothing about any of this; it's just a chance for him to stroke his hateboner against the righties.

Bob doesn't understand why Sri Lanka, Holland, and USA don't have fully robot-automated farms yet. He has NO clue this payment is a one-timer because the Blob is used to the USA paying farmers constantly to 1) not grow crops and 2) dump surplus crops in the waste system.
Also gotta love how Bob transplants his ideas of GQP/right wing politics onto other countries for the purposes of finding MAGAnaise Ghouls outside the USA to blame for all the problems and then subsequently suggest their liquidation for the alleged betterment of mankind and the ecosystem.

If they could have low level workers with robots, they would have done it during the pandemic. They can't. Not just because the technology isn't there yet, but also because it's never going to be. Unless you can create AI so advanced it's basically a sentient sci-fi android. But even then, it would still be easier and more efficient to have a human fill that role because we don't have to make them from scratch.

You can make a self-driving truck? Awesome. Can you ensure the programming is never going to end up in a situation it can't handle? No, you can't. You'll need a human in the driver's seat even if the only thing he does is pull the break when things get too crazy.

It's actually not important that Lovecraft was racist. What's important is that he was a crazy weirdo, and that resulted in some pretty dope horror stories that a normal person clearly could not have written. Not that Bob is capable of appreciating any kind of literature for any reason, really.

I was about to reply to this post explaining that Lovecraft wasn't an anti-social shut-in and provide proof, but you edited that out. Thank you.

From what I heard about the farmers' protests, it's even worse than the government wanting to ban them from using certain fertilizers. They want to buy their land so they can build new residential areas where right now food is grown. It should be pretty obvious why that's a bad thing, but Movieblob probably believes that food grows in supermarkets, pre-packaged and all.

"BY the ruling class"? You mean multi-billionaires

Retweeted by Eugnicsbob. Failed logic on display from tetines90: When successful, abortions will always result in a minimum mortality rate of 50%.

Also retweeted by Eugnicsbob. And, I'm probably wrong on this, aren't the states with the most generous maternity leave benefits (or the states that "pay women to be stay-at-home mommies") all run by Democrats?

View attachment 3476862
I'm not sure Moviebob's advocating for eugenics because Bob's makes no mention of abortion. In saying "we do not NEED more people [...] what we NEED is [...] there to be as many as we WANT", my inference is that Bob is subtly advocating any combination of genocide and/or deportation.

No, Bob. That's called Major League Soccer.

2. Sex.
3. World politics.
4. Ethics.
5. Survival skills
6. Biology.
7. Health and fitness.
8. Human decency.
9. Self-awareness.

12. Facing valid criticisms.

Things Bob has knowledge of;
1. Twitter.
2. Mountain Dew Chicken.
3. Dehumanization.
4. Professional victimhood.
5. Character assassination.

Reminder that Bob talked about jizzing himself in his review of Kingsman during the church scene. The scene has Colin Firth go check out a church that is an incredible exaggeration of Westboro Baptist. The Preacher calls for the death of niggers, kikes, and faggots. Shenanigans ensue, everyone starts killing each other, and Colin is the last man standing in a church full of dead bigots. Bob really, really liked this. I'd show you that segment but *LegendOfZeldaChestOpening.mp3*

Found a clip at 49:37:

Bob missed the point of that scene and the whole movie, I guess. He probably thought the villain was a Thinker, right about everything and probably wished he had won. Basically, any joy an audience would take in all those evil church Believers being murdered by the villain's mind control rage inducer was supposed to have been undercut by the heroic character who was there being shot in the head and killed.*
Right but Bob missed the point of the scene even more than that. He says it's the side of the movie and audience that the scene is awesome because you're seeing these people killed. It's not. Firth's character shows epic remorse at what he was forced to do even to these objectively bad people. His will is stolen from him. He dislikes the church at the start but he laments what he was made to do to them anyway. The great action is undercut by how Firth and the entire church had no control. They never attacked him for any reasons that justified his defense to kill all of them they were as helpless as he was. Even Samuel L. Jackson's character can't bare to watch the violence he's setting off and never tries to justify it by who was involved, he was merely setting up both sides to kill each other, as you note Firth survives but he kills him anyway and he would've killed any survivor from the church too. The victim wasn't chosen just because it's one of the few acceptable choices of who to show being slaughtered like that but also so even though they suck Firth still is remorseful showing how good he is even after you see him kill all those people.

It's funny to compare to that thing about literature and "empathy" that Bob retweeted the other day because if you replace Firth with Bob he'd see who he killed and say "oh, well that was an objectively good thing" rather than feel he was violated to do evil.

Funny that he just whined an account off Twitter (you have to put "parody" in the profile) for alleging he's a Nazi when he approves of what Hitler (among others) literally did to his political opponents upon being handed power after failing at elections multiple times.

Yes, that's true too. Firth isn't an evil person so he didn't enjoy murdering all those people. The audience is intended to identify with him and not the villain. Bob of course, has no problem with all the murder.
They were such bangers 6 years ago that people will come flocking back to 1080p versions...right?
The only people I can think of who might possibly want to watch these with improved video and sound are us. So, thank you Bob, if I need to comb through one of your cringe videos for insanity, I guess it's better if they are in 1080p. Don't forget to do the "Game Overthinker: Overstone Saga" later.

God, wait until Bob hears about the Boxer Rebellion and how a bunch of superstitious Chinks murdered a bunch of Christians and Missionaries for superstitious and xenophobic reasons. Texas did not cut itself off from the electric grid. There's more than one interconnection in North America, Texas has never been part of other two major interconnections or the minor ones. Which makes sense if you look at where Texas is compared to the two coasts and realize that the grid had to build towards Texas and they needed one before they built to there.

Bob's beloved 21st Century Thinker states of California and New York have the same exact governance setup for their electric grid as Texas does.
