It's like everything he knows about the internet he learned from the local news. That image is available a whole bunch of places, the person seems to have edited it so they could post it as all the versions I've ever seen weren't censored.

There were some direct wins that GG won't ever get the credit for, like requirements that forced websites to more prominently display when their posts were sponsored, created in direct response to pro-GG's ethical complaints (which antis still think is just a meme). But mostly it was an indirect win with anti-GG constantly tripping over themselves and proving to be incompetent dumbasses, and while they still put out the narrative that GG was nothing more than a bunch of -ists and -phobes getting angry at women that proudly stood up to them and defeated them, pretty much every anti is much worse off now than they were before.

More importantly, it was the first time that the modern day Puritans on the left were shown to be fallible, that their stranglehold on culture wasn't as ironclad as previously imagined. The pendulum couldn't be held back forever, and as we've seen increasingly over the past few years, more people are getting tired of woke shit in their media and want to have things they can enjoy again. But that's not something that can happen overnight, sadly, it'll take years to reverse the trend. Consider GG more the first domino that fell; yeah, there's still a lot of awful shit in vidya, but there are also game devs that refuse to bend the knee to woke demands. Maybe some of them are more bold due to others standing up first, it's hard to say, but it was overall more of a win for the pros than the antis.

To be fair, Akeelah came out in 2006, long before Bob even had a Twitter. The Tree of Life came out only a couple months after he'd gotten started, and I don't see him making any mention of it around the time of its release; I did see him replying to someone asking about a future project he'd apparently alluded to and asking if it was indie, to which he said no (and was apparently The Hangover 2), so it looks like he never saw it then. And yes, he hasn't mentioned it at all on his Twitter feed since then, apparently because politisperging and capeshit are much more important.

He has mentioned Terrence Malick a few times, though he almost always misspells his last name as "Mallick." Usually it's just in passing, maybe an oblique reference to Tree of Life, I dunno.

Now, I'm not saying he never saw this movie and is only trying to pretend he's a well-versed film critic; it's entirely possible he watched it at least once in the decade since its release, and Lord knows there are countless movies that I personally haven't seen. But I'm not not saying it either.

Just because you get paid to write fanfiction doesn't change the fact that you're writing fanfiction. There are plenty of writers out there that will gladly take commissions to write whatever fanfic idea you have (frequently smut). Getting paid doesn't automatically validate you as doing Serious Work.

Also, assuming that quote is real (which I have no doubt), Bob has also proven he doesn't understand cosplay either. Thinking a character looks cool and wanting to dress up like them is in no way the same as wearing a jersey to a football game. Their only similarity is in showing you're a fan of something, a surface-level comparison at best. The best cosplayers combine costuming and acting to bring their characters to life, and many dedicate countless hours to creating their outfits. Nobody putting on a Brady jersey is going to be mistaken for him, nor are they trying to.

It's like, every time you think Bob can't be more wrong about something, he manages to one-up himself. The fact that he has such an ego about being right about everything makes him a prime candidate for the biggest case of unwarranted self-importance on the internet.
