See, the thing is, Deus Ex (the original) actually had a tiny subplot in the early areas where the mechanically augmented agents were worried about being replaced by the new, sleek nano-augmented agents. The Mechanical Apartheid and this little "Aug Lives Matter" thing seems to be a subtle nod to the paranoia and distrust those agents had of everyone around them. Additionally, we already treat people with prosthetic limbs just a little bit differently then everyone else-think about it, when you know a guy has a replacement arm or leg, you think of them a little differently.

The thing about Human Revolution and the upcoming Mankind Divided is that a situation like what's being presented in these games is going to come to pass. The makers of Mankind Divided don't have all the answers, but they're using the artistic medium of video gaming and roleplaying to put you directly in the center of the whole firestorm, and maybe give a suggestion for a possible answer. Since Bob is too busy jacking off to Mario 3 for the umpteenth time, this is what he fails to grasp: That video games have been making people think for some time, and not just about "do I want the power up now or later?"
