Bob should learn that empathizing with others is not a reward to them, but rather a tool for understanding their behavior. Understanding their perspective and how it motivates their actions can help you find amicable solutions to problems, rather than leaving you to fantasize about destroying your "enemies" or telling them they are acting contrary to their own interests (something you are unwise to claim without understanding what is actually valuable to them).

Bob should tell the world how he really feels about the 70% of black voters and 53% of Hispanic voters that were in favor of California Proposition 8 - Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry. I'd guess it doesn't involve dehumanizing them and fantasizing about destroying them and their way of life, but I've been wrong about a thing or two before.
