How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

Bob weights in on the Cuphead controversy.

Tl;dw: Bob is more concerned with the writing of the video game critique than the ability to play the game. Compares video game journalism to sports commentary. Claims that the internet went and attacked Dean Takahasi over his shitty gameplay, white knights him.
I'd be more shocked if he had a different opinion. He too is a critic who knows nothing of the subjects he's made his focus despite spending literal 100s of hours on them (he's likely worse with it than the other guy).

friend of mine showed me this game a while back (he knows i'm into art & animation)
always thought that the gameplay's probably going to suffer, regardless of how good the animation is or isn't
I'd love to see Bob give stellar reviews to some of the games I've played with retardedly bad/sloppy gameplay and praise them for the story

Moviebob quote from around the 2:00 mark : Mostly guys shrieking racist obscenities in pubg and pretending to be frightened by what is basically the Tim and Eric version of Night Trap.

This quote gets to me as we see Bob being as dismissive as ever, but apparently he STILL thinks people are let's playing FNAF after all this time.

Most sports commentators have knowledge about the sport or team that they cover.

I honestly shouldn't be surprised he's exceptional enough to censor out "Gamergate".

Bob reminds me of that uncle/grandpa we all have who tries to talk with you about vidya despite his really cursory knowledge of anything made after 1990.

Societal evolution is making everything "inherently political" and creating a system where everyone fights to have the most #Woke message of all with the loser being dehumanized unless it's calling this faulty system out which makes you auto-lose? People just want sports/movies/cartoons/comics/games, Bob. That is why they refuse.

Ok, I'll buck the trend and place a bet that maybe Bob is like the autistic kid from the Wizard and maybe enters some kind of fugue state while gaming and becomes super good. Somebody go undercover to convince him to livestream.

Then again, maybe his skillz only trigger when on 16-bit or less, hence his 80s-90s obsession.

(geez, imagine Bob starring as the grown-up kid in a wizard sequel made 30 years later - talk about a horror movie scarier than IT)

Given that Lego released girly sets to capture new markets, I'm half surprised Hasboro hasn't considered doing the same thing with transformers. I still have knock off toys of robots turning into rocks and mcdonald's foods so why not an end table? (And I can't help but laugh at the thought of a tea party transforming into robots - who then have a tea party.) Unless you count the shopkins as close enough already.

Look I have a niece that's into that stuff, alright?

A bit late but it just dawned on me why the cars-as-robots idea made money while the furniture-as-robots idea won't work. The concepts of
"cars" and "robots" have largely overlapping connotations: speed, adventure, machanics, control, mastery, so one idea flows naturally into another. Then ask yourself, what are the connotations of "furniture"? Or put this another way, what are the ideas that Ikea ads sell? Comfort, a sense of place, belongings, personality. These have nothing to do with robots and no audience will identify with such a pairing.

Who are we kidding here? Neither Bobby nor his Overladies are into sports.
(And no, WWE is not a sport, sport.)

Well, there's a good chance he's got the 'tism too, but what would be his "California"?
"Brooklyn"? "Bahstan"? "Basement"? "Mushroom Kingdom"?

:offtopic: If my gf is right, Transformers already has a larger than expected female fan base without doing silly things like robots turning into girly things or appliances. Mostly due to things like the Optimus/Megatron rivalry or Starscream's antics. It makes sense that soap opera-ish elements in your action series will cause a bit of overlapping interest between the average tastes of the sexes. Not a 50/50 split but it doesn't have to be and I doubt you could get everyone into it like with anything else.

You should check out Raksha, I believe we have an old thread here about her. Huge Decepticon fan, inactive for probably four years or more.

Bob's gamergate response reminde dme of something

Like most "Me, an intellectual" dweebs on the net, they feel compelled to not just dislike something, but do all sorts of mental gymnastics so that all the negative things apply.

Bob is obsessed with Gamergate to the point it cost him two jobs and led to his current near-insanity, yet because he has no perspective or understanding of how to evaluate shit, he has to say it's "Not interesting" despite obsessing over it like Sirhan Sirhan obsessed over RFK

Bob, I still believe you shit your pants on the regular, how's this supposed to sell me on mother! ?

So, he compares the impact of seeing mother! to watching The Exorcist, then say it's gonna bomb because people won't be attracted to a genuinely disturbing movie. :stress:

Wait, am I reading this wrong, or is Bob actually speaking out AGAINST people losing their jobs to automation?
