So that subplot ends with two high ranking members of the Resistance military essentially patting the character on the head and talking about how cute 'n fuzzy he is after he staged a fucking mutiny that involved assaulting his superior officers.

It's jaw-droppingly stupid story beats such as that which have caused audiences to treat this movie like a yeast infection, Bob.

Reminiscent of when Khan was rewarded for his attempted mutiny by being made a captain by starfleet, that whole subplot was kind of like Down's syndrome Star Trek.
