Bob, dude, you have a decent-ish gig going now, and GOTG vol. 2 will always be available to watch and reminisce over, there's no point to any of this shit because it's clear that Disney is not Alamo Drafthouse, they are not going to hire James Gunn in secret for this movie like Alamo Drafthouse did for your buddy Devin Faraci, that in itself is a highly unlikely occurrence in business, and it's even less likely when Disney will have so many directors making pitches, they will have to organize fight clubs to decide on the winning pitch.

My money's on Uwe Boll and Joe Swanberg for the final, those two can really fight!

So it basically comes down to Bob's narcissism because he wants to see himself as a kindred spirit to James Gunn. This seems as close an admission of failure as we are going to get from Bob. As decent a gig he has now, I believe he has always had aspirations of being a filmmaker on the level of Spielberg in terms of fame and influence. It would not surprise me if he honestly thought studios would beg him to submit pitches as evidence by how he shouts his asinine ideas into the vacuum. Then James Rolfe hit it big with the AVGN in '06 and he thought he could get a piece of the action. Bob is closing in on his forties and he is no closer to realizing his dream of becoming a professional filmmaker. Hence why he would see Gunn as a proxy for achieving them. Now that Disney fired Gunn, he cannot vicariously live out his dream and all he has now is his denial. To accept reality would mean that he would have to accept that he is a miserable asshole who knows that he is the Mouse's bitch.

Compare to James Rolfe who is around the same age. The AVGN movie was not blockbuster, nor was it really meant to be. James followed his passion and created films on his own terms and a character that thousands--if not millions--of people enjoy. He is happily (as far as I know) married with two children and all-round decent guy. James may not be a big Hollywood director living in Malibu, but he will always be rich in ways that Bob will never be.

This is why I'm loving every minute of Bob's Twitter breakdown. Maybe it's the 'beetus, but I love how it exposes his impotence. He built this prison around himself and he's delusional enough to believe that he built a castle.
