Very few doctors and women, including those who administered or underwent abortion, truly believe that a human embryo is a mere clump of cells (much less a "hypothetical" one). They justify abortion by rationalizing that the health and well-being of the mother sometimes trumps that of the future child, not by dismissing the conceptus as something you can just throw in the garbage can.

I think Bob's also parroting people who don't understand what "living" entails. A "clump of cells" is still living matter no matter how you want to go about it or argue that it won't feel anything. You notice how the latter is clearly just them trying to find something to ease their conscious? That doesn't make abortion wrong and it can indeed be a necessary act. It should sound scary as anyone needing one every other week doesn't have the maturity to be reproducing anyways.

The problem is abortion is one of the most vexing moral quandaries facing society today and it has been for decades, if not centuries. It's likely an increasing number of people will shift, if not to a pro-life view, then a more hesitantly pro-choice one as microsurgery on younger and younger fetuses becomes more widespread, and as premature births of earlier and earlier dates survive as normal children.

Because Bob is an angry simpleton with a chip on his shoulder who is totally incapable of grasping nuance, he seizes on the most simplistic, black and white view of the abortion issue, so he can comfortably pour his hatred on all the God-botherers and conservatives he despises anyway.

We debated earlier this week about MovieBob being mentally-ill. That's really the only answer that makes sense. Nothing normal can cause the levels of pure hatred, anger and misery we see in Bob. He has to have something wrong with him mentally to behave the way he does.

I'd say it's sad to witness this happen to someone, but Bob truly deserves this curse upon him. He's extremist in every opinion he holds, every viewpoint he publicly declares to be his and in every other facet of life. He's earned it.

Part of it IMO is he’s still hung up on his negative experiences in high school, and being subject to arrested development, still sees the world through the Manichean prism of those years of his life. That, or deep down he realizes what a complete failure of a human being he is, so he impotently lashes out at the world while trying to convince himself he’s lived a successful, fulfilling life.

The simple reason is Bob is truly unhappy and believe in some way or another the world or a certain group has wronged him. This is what happens when you let your hatred and anger fester and close yourself off to the world, it isn't pretty or good at all. He is also a man that thinks about the "future" but he is very clearly stuck in the past as his clear hatred of the mid to late 90s is less of a reflection of not liking those types of games, but the time when he got pushed around in middle and high school. How much was or wasn't his fault, we will never know, but he clearly hasn't forgotten though the folks who pushed around Bob probably have long forgotten about him.
