I....I don't even know where to begin. Natural selection is random, yes. But being bright is a major disadvantage, so the selection there is the bright colors COMBINED with the toxin. I rated this a because good animation, while certainly a big factor in a show's popularity, is not the only factor as good stories and characters are also essential. I agree that Nu-Ra looks like shit when you compare it other Netflix shows like Voltron: Legendary Defender, and hell, The Dragon Prince look like professional productions while Nu-Ra looks amateur in comparison. In terms of story, the problem with Nu-Ra is that it the creator and its fanbase are obsessed with identity politics and subtext to the point where the story and characters are shallow and inorganic. Hell, the inoffensive blandness of the 80s original series was more entertaining than the superfluous undertones about sexuality and gender identity of the remake.
