Ok, found the news about this. Summarized, Yellow Vests do demonstrations every saturday in a town and of course the major and antifa don't like them, with antifa usually attacking the yellow vests. Then, at a Pride parade the Yellow Vests appeared to counter protest the gays and Antifa, as usual, joined and attacked the Yellow Vests.

It's because everyone in Hollywood has this racist notion that black women and red-haired women are sassy and temperamental. So it's easy to swap one out for the other, because both are coded to mean "Firey-tempered girl who will snap back at the hero and earn his admiration and devotion because of her strong will." Of course, Hollywood is also full of SJWs who say coding people based on their appearance is evil, but hey, if Hollywood didn't have double standards, they wouldn't have any standards at all.

I think it's a very clever power play. The opinion of many people, even among the woke was "the Disney live action remakes are pointless, kind of stupid and can't recapture the lighting in a bottle."

I have no horse in this race because I don't give a rat's shit about the Little Mermaid and race swapping doesn't annoying as long as it doesn't drastically change a character. But The Little Mermaid is a Dutch Fairytale and I guarantee you if some African Folklore was being made into a movie with a white lead Bob and his ilk would be screaming Cultural Appropriations.

The Little Mermaid is Danish, not Dutch. It was written by H. C. Andersen, the same author that wrote The Ugly Duckling, The Little Match Stick Girl, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and countless others.
