I for one am disgusted but unsurprised that well known misogynist pig Robert Chipman, who covered up for a rapist, compared Megan Fox to a blow up doll, and routinely dehumanizes any right-of-center woman in a similar fashion, is complaining that there are too many young female characters in video games. Clearly he's afraid of strong women.I'll attempt to translate:
"it's so weird that" = "I'm too out of the loop to understand why"
"games are still doing the 80's 'handful of ideas' thing" = [no translation available]
"but instead of every game having boomerangs" = [outdated zelda reference]
"or coins" = [ubiquitous mario reference]
"it's daughters" = [a last of us reference, even though besides Ellie there are npc sons, like Artreus from God of War and the non-gendered BB from Death Stranding]
"I am Legend" = "you're alone in a post-apocalyptic city"
"and is-this-reality shifts"= "and dream/hallucination sequences happen."
To summarize: "I'm too out of the loop to understand why" "you're alone in a post-apocalyptic city" "and dream/hallucination sequences happen."
tl;dr bob dumb lul

Yeah, Robert's "gotchya" is bullshit because he's acting like these video retail stores provided any service that online markets can't. At least until the internet censorship net tightens to 1984 levels, which he fervently supports.Physical media for TV, movies, and games are not obsolete since streaming is a clusterfuck thanks to copyright and licensing laws while DVD and Blu-Ray remain in production and if anything, SJW cancel culture and corporate censorship is likely driving up the sales of physical media for the near future as seen with Gone With The Wind
But stores for physical media are most certainly obsolete.
As much as I miss video stores and hate streaming in general, I get why video stores went away in the very late 2000's and very early 2010's as Netflix streaming got really popular since the same niche is more or less filled for a monthly fee and from the privacy of your own home.
As it is, the last Blockbuster Video in Oregon is mainly kept in operation as a tourist attraction more than anything else and is sort of a popular destination from what I can tell.
There's a few other mom and pop video stores that are still around for largely the same reasons and I'm honestly surprised if we don't see some company or organization do a similar thing with shopping malls in the near future, but I digress.
Anyway, I get the feeling that Blockbuster Video is for Bob what Manchester High School was for Chris, an idyllic past that never really was.
Makes me wish one of Bob's former co-workers from there would join the Farms and post about how Bob was really like to work with. Especially since Bob probably hate-lurks this thread.
At that point we all become Fahrenheit 451 style criminals, exchanging shitty burned DVD's of Gone With the Wind, The Outlaw Josie Wales, Gods and Generals, and any other movie that portrays any aspect of Confederacy in a remotely positive fashion, while we dodge the Firemen.
Robert will of course be applauding the televised executions of media preserving criminals from his couch, since he's too much of a lazy fatass to become a government thug much like he's too much of a lazy fatass to go out and riot like he's cheering others on for doing.
