No, Bob. You can be the smartest cookie in the jar and accomplish jack shit. What gets things done is technique and insight in a subject. Sure, intelligence helps a lot but first you need the know-how before doing anything.

I would like Bob to explain what he's actually lost during the pandemic. Because aside from capeshit and going to stupid cons, I can't imagine his life being much different from what it was before the pandemic hit.

Bob is going to ride this “It’s Trump voters’ fault that my life still sucks” train to the end. He has a lifelong documented history of refusing to accept responsibility for the ramifications of his choices, words, or actions. Now he can push all the blame for his shitty life onto millions of people for whom he already has a multi-year, raging hate boner? It’s his wet dream come to life.

Why is he even so miserable? I mean online movie criticism is not a top tier job or anything but come on. One reason why I am not a lolbiterian nor a so called progressive is because in allot of countries like the USA and Sweden it is genuinely hard to find a job in general and many people in their 40's and 50's are without one because of the immense mass immigration but also COVID-19. As poor as Bob's life might seen to allot of people it is honestly allot preferable to many other people's lives.

From an objective standpoint, Bobby really doesn't have much to complain about. As someone who edits videos in his spare time, I can guarantee that nothing Bob does for his "job" is remotely difficult; speeding up the audio track and stringing pictures and videos on a timeline is not hard. The rest of it is blind consooming and writing a script, which assuredly doesn't take much effort. He has a group of fans willingly forking over money every month for his low-effort tripe. His expenses are fairly low considering he doesn't have any family to support and he's probably getting a rent discount through his aunt. Aside from theaters being closed, there's really no difference between his pre-pandemic life and now; despite claiming otherwise, Bob does not strike me as the type to go outside more than he has to.

So he has an easy job that lets him makes enough to support himself, a situation that anyone who's unemployed or underemployed would kill for. Why's he miserable, then? There's a few possibilities.

One is that he's making himself miserable through his constant, seething hatred of anyone who isn't working towards his Superior Future™. He spews out bilious epithets on a daily (even hourly) basis, practically foaming at the mouth with how much he hates whoever his senpais tell him to hate: Trump, Republicans, white people, straight people, Christians, wrongthinkers, and so on. Due to his belief that only the Democrats will bring about his Superior Future™ where he'll have his robot body and sexbot waifu and live on a spaceship and nobody will ever criticize him again, he effectively plunges headlong into misery by having his thoughts consumed by this unending rage.

Another is that he's got undiagnosed depression of some form. Despite having a relatively easy life, Bob is probably aware that it's not really where he wanted to be. He's pushing 40 and he's made zero in-roads into anything beyond low-budget movie reviews for the lowest bidder. Sure, he tries to disguise this reality through bravado, claiming "they hate me cuz they ain't me," but deep down he knows that he's not gonna be a Hollywood screenwriter, that all his great ideas like "Terminator but Skynet is the good guy" and "Care Bears meets Paradise Lost" will never go beyond his drunken ramblings. Add to that the lack of any kind of serious relationship, and Bob's probably beginning a slide into his midlife crisis.

Maybe it's just autism.

Point is, Bob's pretty much doing it to himself. He doesn't eat right or exercise (yeah, I totally believe you're eating tiny salads now, Blobbo), he doesn't have a life beyond soulless corporate cash grabs, and he's never going to make anything of himself. When you're stewing in your own resentment and anger all day, it's no fucking surprise you're gonna feel like shit.

Bob is succumbing to hopelessness because it’s the easiest way to absolve himself of responsibility. After all, if you’re doomed, there’s absolutely nothing you can do to avert disaster. So if Bob believes he is doomed, that means it’s not his fault— indeed, in this narrative he’s 100% a victim.
