That's because Bob's take was even dumber than that.

He's so fucking dumb. Arlen was actually based on the real-life North Dallas suburb of Garland. I went to university right next door in Richardson, TX, which is demographically very similar: it's middle class and full of Asians. I bet Bob has never even been to Dallas, or Texas in general. In fact, it really seems like he never leaves the area he grew up in.

I can't believe I used to find this man intelligent and insightful during my middle school years

Don't feel so bad; I used to regularly tune in for Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC in high school. Be proud that you grew past it.

And he thought that Germany should "liberate" Poland from its democratically elected government after the socially conservative (read: anti troon) candidate was elected President over there earlier this year. And yes, he actually said "Germany". Not "the EU", not "somebody", it had to be Germany. I can't be asked to find it but he went on to say that maybe the UK should rescue us from the Donald Trump administration (nevermind that it was already coming up for election this November).
I’m reminded of a quote I heard that went something along the lines of “former communists and socialists make the best Nazi party members.” Not sure who said it but Bob does seem to fit the quote what with him literally calling for Germany to start another world war. The term is “beefsteak Nazi“ if you all are curious.

Has Bob tweeted about the Hunter Biden scandal yet? Part of me is very curious as to what kind of reprehensible dribble will pour forth from his maw over this issue, but I also kind of feel like I know Bob well enough that I'd rather leave it to my imagination and not risk having a brain aneurysm.

I think the real tell is that he's gone from that movie show with Jack Packard. If they had any desire to keep him, I think they could easily cut loose his individual shows but let him continue as a cohost for that one. Shit, they didn't even let him have a farewell episode. They know this guy is poison.
That’s a charitable interpretation. They didn’t even address his absence. After all, those guys had to work with Bob on the show — they don’t need internet people to tell them he’s a dumb asshole.

Goddamn I literally just watched this episode last night. Also had a fun time explaining Ol' W to my Zoomer girlfriend. One thing to keep in mind is that Mike Judge is the R. Kelly of piss takes. Hank Hill's politics aren't "real". He is a man who almost didn't vote over a handshake, and that clip of Reagan dying his hair is great too. Its also a great little time capsule of what we used to think and laugh at about conservatives. And Liberals. As I recall Mike Judge is a pretty left, even now. Its been kind of refreshing rewatching this.

But my point is, arguing about Hank Hills politics is full on autistic, because he is kind or a weird amalgamation of conservative punch lines.
Also, Ladybird was named after Johnson's wife. He wasn't full on Republican ever.

He can't even get that right! The whole point of that scene is that Homer doesn't consider it torture. He literally eats until he nearly bursts, all the while calling for more, to the point that the demons run out of donuts. Oh, but since Bob is being bullied, it's "violent torture." Give me a fucking break.
There is also the fact that Homer is such a fat fucking glutton(the sin he is supposed to being tortured for) that even an infinite amount of torture can't make him feel shame for it. The point of the scene beyond the joke is that Homer is the literal embodiment of the sin of Gluttony. He doesn't care what he is consuming he just wants to consume.

He doesn't ask for a specific flavor of food, he just says more and lets them shove it in his fat gullet.

King of bad takes thinks Mulder would be a domestic terrorist because muh QAnon I guess.

More lusting after Peter Coffin.

This isn't new. When the first season of the X-Files revival came out, Bob was one of MANY who pointed out how utterly "problematic" Mulder was given how liberals came to worship the government under Obama and how fucking dare someone like Mulder (who mistrust the government and had first had experience with the evil shady shit that it gets into) was coming back unchanged for the current year. The fact that Chris Carter also replaced the Lone Gunmen with an Alex Jones stand-in and had Scully be romantically interested in him, plus the Cigerette Smoking Man now espousing Ra's Al Ghul type ecological terrorist goals and the episode with the Muslim terror cell in Texas, just made the Bobs of the world fume even moreso and wanting Scully and Mulder replaced with the young expies introduced towards the end of the first revival season.

It created such a shit storm that Carter caved like a giant sized pussy when it came to the second season of the revival. Not only did he pussy out on the "this time we are fucking serious, this is the end" finale that was the last episode of the revival (which finally had the aliens invade, the Syndicate unleashing their virus to decimate the masses, and ended with Scully and a plague infected Mulder seconds away from being killed by an alien spaceship death ray) by making said finale a dream, but he pushed HARD the Russia/Trump connection by having Trump in league with the Russia equivalent of the Syndicate operating and doing evil on American soil.

I think it's more likely that Mulder is a centrist or only slightly left if not apolitical. I think it's more like that if Mulder is rightwing he's a John McAfee supporter, especially considering McAfee's original platform was a long post just saying "Unlike other politicians I'm not going to feed you some bullshit, here is some info on how crypto works instead." I could see Scully totally voting for Hilary Clinton though.
IIRC isn't Scully a Navy brat? Also, given how much of a stick in the mud Scully tended to be and how she was constantly trying to rationalize the madness she regularly saw in her line of duty, I could see Scully more of a centrist Republican who goes through periods where she doesn't vote at all because she doesn't like the candidate and tacitly knows it won't matter if she doesn't vote because the game is rigged.

Unless they made some specific political statement I missed in the show Kahn and Minh would also probably vote at least center right, because they're fleeing a shithole communist country in Laos, even if Minh's father is a general.
Minh and Khan are social climbers and if the Wasonasons (crappy spelling/the family Kahn and Minh were forever sucking up to due to them being wealthier and more successful) were voting Hillary, they'd vote Hillary or at least go through the elaborate Kabuki theater of voting Hillary then voting Trump and lying that they did and then become ultra-paranoid about being found out. Or reacting to Trump's anti-immigration stance post election by way of a massive case of guilt/regret over helping elect Trump.

That said, I do think that if KOTH was around today, Judge would probably feel the need to do a pro-immigration episode and use the Kahn and his family being harassed for being Southeast Asian by Trump supporters to bash Trump, complete with Bobby and Hank explicitly coming to their defense and giving end of episode speeches rebuking Trump. And maybe, even a Manbearpig sized groveling apology for the episode towards the end of the series, where Judge took a huge fucking shit on Critical Race Theory via having the school be forced to hire a CRT advisor who basically turned all of the kids at school against each other and manipulated Bobby into turning a school fair stye fun day into a struggle session, where instead of playing in a bouncy house and other kids games, everyone was forced to admit to being racist and berated and insulted into they cried and agreed to say whatever th CRT advisor demanded they say to stop the bullying.

I can see Hank hating Trump personally (crude New York businessman) but holding his nose for him anyway and after 2020 he'd 100% be onboard with him. Hank voting for Beto let alone being 'all in' for him? Lmao
I think Hank would be anti-Trump but get ostracized for it because everyone would think he's for Hillary (especially if Peggy was a huge Hillary booster). He'd begrudgingly warm up to Trump but be one of those Republicans who hate Trump but hates the Democrats even moreso, which leads to a mid-life crisis and Hank going third party/apolitical.

Like the Simpsons' Homer, he's been Flanderized over the years so that he objects to the smallest and pettiest of things now that he used to not care about, and seems a bit nastier, but that's just because the jokes are running out after all the years... he's a study in why the "You kids get off my lawn!" guy becomes the way he does.... he'll become cantankerous one day, but never violent or loony, that's just not who he is.
I'd argue that Hank wasn't flanderized so much as wholesale retooled.

People forget that Hank was a right cunt asshole in the first couple of seasons of King of the Hill. And someone who was right only because of the fiat of the writer.

Fans hated Hank and even Fox didn't like Hank, leading to the famous bit where they suggested Hank be killed off and go the single mom route with Peggy and Bobby, which led to the famous two part episode where Megalo Mart exploded and Judge trolling everyone by doing a promo where Bobby/Peggy/Luanne would move to LA the following season, which he backed off on when he realized that Fox thought he was being dead serious.

As it stands, post-Megalo Mart explosion Hank was radically different from pre-explosion Hank in that he was far more mellow and autistic and there was a lot of work humanizing Hank and tacitly justifying his behavior via Asperger syndrome and his fucked up homelife as a kid (abusive father, mother who ultimately allowed Cotton to run rampant and retreated to her miniature collection room whenever Cotton went on the rampage, Hank's well being be damned).

Of course, that had the side effect of needing someone else to stir up drama, which is why Peggy got hit with the Flanderized stick HARD. So she became an insufferable bitch who thought she was smarter than everyone else and who constantly needed Hank to save her ass.

I swear this thread is for MovieBob, not the KOTH appreciation thread.

EDIT: I’m not mad, I just love the fact anything bullshit Bob gets wrong about is discussed by people who know better than him.
