The fact that a phrase like "Film Robert" can get under Bob's skin only shows how utterly fragile his ego is. There is nothing inherently offensive or negative about the phrase "Film Robert" (except that it refers to Bob of course). A guy secure in himself would just laugh and go along with it while not giving a shit. By giving a shit you make that phrase have power over you. Do you think AVGN would make a big deal if someone called him "The Furious Video Game Dork"? Do you think Stone Cold Steve Austin would get all upset if someone called him "Cold Stone Stephen Houston"? If they DID get visibly butthurt on social media over a phrase like that you can bet more people would use the term because you've shown it's a weak point. Some people might not know it but part of the reason the name "Film Robert" caught on is because Bob explicitly tweeted that he HATES being called "Robert".

In conversation with him you're to refer to him as "moviebob" . He expects to be called "moviebob" in regular conversation. That is the kind of person you're dealing with, and reasonable to expect that he'd get angry over being called "Robert" . Narcissism

From what I've seen on here I think he just gets more annoyed if people who already pissed him off in anyway act familiar with him. Dobson would do something similar from time to time. I can't remember if he got pissed at being called robert and we all thought that was funny and made it a meme or if cinema robert became a thing and people wanting to piss him off started using it. Either way I don't think it gets under his skin as much as we think it does. He is more likely to blow up on randos bashing marvel or being critical of consoomerism.

This is a well known trait of his. We've discussed it before. He really does not like people referring to him by the name Bob or Robert. I don't know if it's just that he wants to be in control, but he wants you to use the name that he gave himself.

Here's an old clip from LordKat's podcast where he discusses this. I think this is also where "Film Robert" first emerged from.

If I'm being honest while there is some truth in what that podcast says I think they're wrong about Bob insisting people call him "THE MovieBob". I mean you can clearly see he refers to himself as "MovieBob" without the "The" in multiple places like his own YouTube account:

I'm pretty sure he just put the "The_" on his twitter handle because some other person probably already took the "@MovieBob" handle and that's the best alternative he could think of. In the same way I don't think he gets offended by being called "Bob" as that's what he calls himself in multiple places:

Now the fact that he took a phrase meant to refer to God and made it about himself shows a huge degree of narcissism but it doesn't show he dislikes the name "Bob". His dislike of "Robert" is well sourced however.
