However, that's the issues, a large number of people who got arrested were so for Anti-Communist statements or crimes, were there people who got arrested under false claims because some asshole had a grudge on saying their neighbor? Yes, but to say people who got arrested were licking communist boots? Eeeh...that's kinda up there since Solzhenytsin was an outspoken Anti-Soviet and never showed love for the communist views even before his arrest. For example, a Russian writer Vladimir Karpov was arrested in 1941 for Anti-Soviet stuff and he wasn't exactly a supporter either because in the 90s he published 2 bullshit documents claiming how USSR wanted to make peace with the Nazis and ally with them in 1942 and a document of Racial purity of joining the NKVD, both were proven to be fakes.

But, if we wanna go by Solzhenytsin logic, only people who'd scream about this would be during WW2, and because they knew that upon joining the penal battalion and even so much as taking a minor injury their crimes are instantly forgiven and they are considered a proper citizen/soldier. Problem is that the sentence must not be above 2 years, which means you aren't gonna see Al fucking Capone among the ranks.
