Welp. Apparently treating people humanely is the same thing as insulting them.
No, because if you're a baddie then you don't deserve to get treated nicely. You deserve to get your livelihood taken away, your house burned, your children raped and your life ruined. And that's just the beginning for daring to be a baddie

Learn your racial relations through Disney cartoons!

Cartoons are not real; and no one can establish the origins of the Aladdin story enough to put a date on it.
This is why you shouldn’t put your kids in front of TV all day. They’ll start to believe everything they see.

If these people want to learn about cultural relations they should read a book or take a class.

Also do idiots like Bob even bother to look up the original stories behind the Disney films? The original stories were much darker.
IIRC, Aladdin was originally told by Muslims, but it takes place in China. It is about as "accurate" as you would expect from stories told about China by a Persian villager around 1000 AD, which is to say, not very. China did not have a caliph, for example.

(Ninja'd, sort of.)

Offhand, I can think of only one adaption that set Aladdin in China. It's on Rifftrax.

Also, Aladdin is not part of the 1001 Nights stories. The volume that originally (or nearly so) that brought these stories to the West was titled 1001 Nights and Other Stories. Aladdin was one of the Other stories.
Also, in the original tale, Aladdin lived with his mother and was a lazy child. The genie was trapped in a ring not a bottle.

It's also on Youtube.

Enjoy everybody.

ONE of the Genies was in a ring. The other one was in a lamp.

Yes that is how you can tell who's read the original or not. Do they know there are 2 genies in the story?

(BTW, the movie above? 2 genies BOTH played by Barry Bostwick. And the ABC miniseries from the 90s had 2 genies.)

I remember specially the Little Mermaid. The one where the Mermaid, after giving up her voice in exchange for legs dies when she reaches the surface because she cannot breathe outside of the water.
Or the Sleeping Beauty, the woman that goes to sleep, is raped several times in her sleep by prince charming and is fortunately, woken up by one of her children when he sucks the seed that made her go to sleep out of her finger.

If only people knew, but they can't be bothered with. And i don't know if it's because of the illusion of innocence or because the Disney version is the easier one to disgest.
