I honestly don't even understand what he's getting at. Is he saying that because theaters aren't opening up, which I'm pretty sure they are mostly in the US, that Disney's punishing them by pushing the release date back 4 months? Is WB and Paramount NATO in this context? It all makes my front head hurt and my mouth taste like copper.
Well done.If the theater owners said "Exclusive rights to show Black Widow is not worth what you are asking" how is Disney "flexing" by "refusing" to sell it to them? Is that called "flexing" or "failing to make a sale?"
EDIT TO ADD: I am reasonably sure in this context NATO is the National Alliance of Theater Owners. Although it is hilarious.
Robert interweaves his zealotry for pedestrian mass media so much with his exceptionally bad political and historical takes that I don't think anyone can be blamed for assuming he was yet again trying to inappropriately and clumsily cram one inside of the other.
I spent about 20 seconds mentally playing out a tense confrontation between uptight Disney execs and Scandinavian diplomats seated around a big conference table in Brussels before deciding this reference would have to remain a mystery.
