Robocop - Dead or alive, you're coming with me

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Watch some trailers before I had a chance to play the demo.....that is some good head popping head shots.

Trying to figure out the gameplay through. Its seems you don't dodge bullets (which makes sense) you just tank them and keep going. Is the challenge basically taking every one out before you run out of armor?

For anyone curious since it wasn't mentioned in the thread, Game Launches November 5th and is 50 bucks, if you pay 60 bucks you get some skins and a Shotgun (Hopefully it's actually obtainable in the base game and the DLC just gives you a unique version with a skin.)

This game looks really cool but I think it will be a game a pirate instead of buying until it goes on sale for a decent price.

I dunno man, it looks a bit shit compared to what I was expecting. It's not coming across anywhere near as good as Terminator or the DLC

...how do the skins work?

The cutscenes look pretty pre rendered, to me...
As far as I saw the demo didn't have any skin functionality, so no clue yet but it will probably either be something in the Police Station or in a menu.

Excluding maybe the Intro cutscene, all the cutscenes are real time. If any are Pre rendered they look exactly like the in game graphics.

The gameplay for this looks awesome.

They really nailed the tone of the orignal. Feels like the terminator game they did with a lot more polish. Very pleasantly surpised to see dialogue trees. They are Straight up retconning 3 for their own take.

Im a little concerned at the lack of a release date but otherwise very hyped. If you pre order they give the nice blue sheen he has in robo 2.
I love the fucking awkward walk he does like right out of the movie.

Looks like you get repair kits, and have what looks like a time slow and a shield ability. But otherwise, yes. You're Robocop, not a weak fleshy thing like an ordinary cop. They also don't show off the fact you can pickup dropped guns until the very end, sadly. Although with a pistol like his, why would you want to?

I kept waiting for him to switch to the other weapon he was carrying, but he never did, which is a bit disappointing. The pistol is neat, but hopefully there's some bits in the game where having an assault rifle or a grenade launcher make sense.

The gameplay footage seems alright, but I'm a bit wary about it coming out too early, there's still some LOD/model pop-in and some frame drops from what I saw. Hopefully it has enough time in the oven to not be too janky. The inclusion of dialogue choices is a bit weird, but it'll be interesting to see if it's just a good end/bad end thing or if the gameplay and missions actually change based on what you end up doing.

Terminator had those when you were in the base. Didn't affect too much aside from certain people living or dying if you did all their side quest stuff, though, but still interesting.

Shit 50 bucks in this day and age is considered cheap now. I'm wondering if that still applies to ps5.

Played the demo and had a fun time. Almost played like a old school rail shooter (on Hard) since most mobs could take more then one pull on the three round pistol burst. Had to focus on headshots, target properties, and watch out for gangsters with face masks.

Too many health pickups but gameplay was fun and look forward to really learning how to combine throwing bodies, gas cans, and picked up weapons.

Yeah, I DL'd the demo too. People who are used to chasing those headshots will get a real surprise when the gangsters with welding masks show up and refuse to go down after being tapped in the face. Good times.

It's a fun romp though. Some graphical issues (I've noticed framerate hiccups), but I might pick this up when it goes on sale.

Not sure if I want it for $50 but Robocop remains one of the greatest movies ever made and shooting criminals while the theme plays is all I really need.
Top youtube comment is 100% correct.

I quite enjoyed the demo. The opening segment as you gun down junkies as the RoboCop theme plays was great. Everything I wanted as a kid.
The gunplay is alright, RoboCop's gun could be a bit chunkier, but the satisfying sounds when you pop heads makes up for it IMO. Pretty satisfying to throw shit into dudes and explode their heads by punching them. I played on the highest difficulty, and I feel like you're more of a toaster than a tank there. But I could just be shit.
I also enjoyed the open world segment. Really feels like the devs just want to make a RoboCop love letter, and I'm here for it.

Game has some pretty bad stuttering the first time you load into an area. I'm guessing due to shader compilation. Ideally that will be improved for release (but most likely won't, I'd like to be proven wrong tho).

After playing the demo, I only have two complaints:
  1. The cutscenes are a little jank as there's missing lip sync on a few characters.
  2. In the arcade bust mission, there's a vault with a secret combination. You can "crack" it if you have 5 points of engineering, or you can read the password on a post-it... if you have 2 points of deductions. Is Robocop illiterate? Can't he read fucking numbers on a sheet of paper?! What were they thinking??
IMO it should have been like Deus Ex, where you can note the password and type it manually. If you needed deductions skills, you should have sticky notes with encrypted messages, where with robovision you could highlight the answer, or you could manually try to decrypt it yourself by hand.
