Rocketlake Review and Release Thread - Rocketlake false cums and craps on the rug.

That's the i5-11400, actually.

... Well, sort of? It beats the 3600X both in price and performance, but we're talking about a 3 year old CPU at this point and the 11400 is being sold dirt cheap in comparison to the rest of Rocket Lake. For the computer hobos basically as you said.
Was literally just about to mention the 11400. It's pretty good compared to the 3600, though I would wait for an AMD response at this rate. Maybe some non X ryzens, or some new APUs finally.

It's not a K though so unlike the 3600 it can't be kicked up a notch with easy overclocking so there's value the AMD part.

If Intel could put some decent IGP capabilities on an i3 and price it right then they could eat the market of the non-existent Ryzen G. It would be a nice stopgap until GPUs can be bought and people would then be locked to Intel motherboards for the moment. (Intel constantly requiring replacing your MB for every other new CPU certainly didn't help when people had to stop and think about their new motherboard, Intel or AMD... Intel's practices made it easier to switch.)

Intel is only coasting on
  • brand recognition ("I dunno, I just see Core stickers on all cool pcs and they air ads on TV")
  • boomer cred ("My boss refuses to pay for AMD CPUs at the workplace, he says they're bad and Intel is the main brand because they've always been, also he still uses Internet Explorer and says other browsers are a virus")
  • casuals who get I'm Feeling Lucky'd towards the lolcows from Userbenchmark dot com.
Speaking of the latter, have you seen the meltdown they had in their review of the new intel waste of sand?

Intel COPE i9-11900K.

Why does UserBenchmark have an autistic hateboner for Intel anyway

Jesus Christ, is this satire?

They are well known Intel shills, and extremely thin-skinned.

Passmark single-thread and multi-thread scores are a good starting point. Then look at various game and application benchmarks from different reviews. UserBenchmark should just be blocked in your hosts file.

Rocket Lake's best showing are the cheap 6-cores, at least at MSRP. I'd like to see the 11500 and its better iGPU tested. That seems like a no-brainer if it's just $10 over the 11400. Maybe the cheaper 11400F without graphics. But even if they can undercut the 5600X, discounted Comet Lake might be a better deal. And if you can wait about 6 months, there's Alder Lake with real performance gains, cheaper DDR4 options, and more Rocket Lake fire sales.

You should look into what they're favoring in general. They're absolute trash, they have currently built a scientific database of which ice cream wrapper tastes better.
I like how when I compare the 11900k to a 5950X, the 11900K gets an arbitrary "100%" for being "hugely more recent"....by 5 months.

Also the 11900k gets awarded for having 'better' single, dual, quad, and octacore speeds, yet everything past 8 isn't counted.

Intel is now officially AMD of the early 2010’s, prove me wrong
AMD has never been able to coast on market dominance. AMD's never had to pay Intel billions for being able to compete fairly.

Intel got savaged by analysts in their earnings report earlier today. AMD earnings are in a few days. Should be interesting how the markets react upon market open tomorrow up until AMD's ER when we find out if they're revising higher guidance. It would only mean they're eating more and more of Intel's marketshare and what's hilarious is that this continuous beatdown is forecasted up until 2023.
