Rockstar Games Grieving Thread

Serious Question to people who complain about RDO not getting updates: Did you ever actually play the game? And if so, what updates do you want exactly? Do you just want them to finish the storyline? Do you just want more shit to buy?
People in the community throw around ideas all the time. If you want a funny read, the most famous is this absolute mental 11 page manifesto written by a guy who's 1 twitter meltdown away from trooning out. The majority of his ideas make no sense and have no point, but the guy thinks he's the fandom messiah. I remember back when #SaveRedDeadOnline was trending he would QRT with links to this unironically being all like "here's how I personally fixed the game! Pay me, Rockstar!"
And don't get me wrong I'm a big roleplay fag and I love small meaningless shit that simply adds to the atmosphere (like letting players sleep in camp to refill cores, or set up a tent in wilderness camp. There's no logical reason to do it over taking consumables and it obviously can't work as a time skip mechanic like it does in SP but for immersion it's nice) but a lot of his ideas are so random and irrelevant, like dude just go make your own game, goddamn. It's been a while since I read the thing in its entirety and holy shit it's even worse than I remember I just have to rant about it
- "Makeup for male characters" lol
- "New weapons: The Bayonet Carbine: This is the classic carbine, with an added Bayonet which can be used to charge enemies. Sprinting with this weapon will begin a charge at double stamina cost." The Pitchfork "This is a large pitchfork, which uses the same charge mechanic as the Bayonet Carbine" wtf?
- "Olympic sporting games" to quote the article:
"Players can train for each of the games by either practising naturally in the wild, or by travelling to various destinations around the Frontier in order to train with a professional." gay
"The setlist of games includes the following:
"The Caber Toss: Contestants spin a large log in the air and must throw it farther than any of their competitors."
literally why
"The Triathlon An exciting race, beginning on foot. Players run to a river or lake, swim across to their horse, and ride to the finish line. MVP prize: Hermes Wings Spurs, adding 20% sprint speed and stamina when equipped." yeah sounds real exciting. Also fuck no @ that prize, this isn't WoW we don't fucking need gear stats. A lot of the prizes this guy suggests are like this and it's so bad
"The Relay: A collaborative race in which players are randomly placed in teams of two (This will favour possies and friends). One partner must run round a set track and pass the baton to their teammate who must finish the race." triathlon but even more boring
"Archery: Players must use a bow and arrow to shoot the most targets with the best accuracy in a set amount of time. MVP prize: Golden arrows, which grant double damage but cannot be recollected." we already fucking have an archery minigame
"The Obstacle Course: One at a time, players will have to complete in a mostly parkour and balance-based obstacle course built over water and mud. The faster the course is completed, the more points the player will earn. If the player falls off, score will be calculated by distance." this nigga really expects R* to overhaul the entire movement system which is already very in depth compared to other MMOS, lol no
"Heavy Lifting: Players must lift weights and hold them for the longest whilst remembering to breathe." gay
"The Brawl: Players are placed in a one-on-one gauntlet-type combat area. Last person standing wins." the players already organize stuff like that, it doesn't need to be a R* sanctioned event, if anything it sounds even more boring than deciding to simply fuck around with your friends and take turns fist fighting for shits and giggles and no actual in-game reward
"Equestrian Skills: Players complete a series of jumps, climbs and other obstacles on their horse." horse racing is an entire minigame category that exists
"Rowing: This is a boat race, where players must follow a river and avoid obstacles along the way. Beaching the boat will disqualify this player from the race, and points will be determined by distance made." once again something you can already do with a bunch of friends lol
"Shooting: Plates are thrown into the air. Players must shoot the most plates within the time limit." boring
  • Use long-arm weapons whilst carrying bodies and bags.
  • More visually skilled executions. ???
  • Fancier reload animations are available in the Player Menu, with the slight chance to load one extra bullet. physics!
  • Reload both dual-wielded pistols or revolvers at the same time. double mauser anyone :)
  • Weapons reload when holstered, but the same reload time is required. ???
  • Change outfits, open maps and the catalogue whilst galloping. The horse will continue to follow any paths and waypoints. yeah no
"Seasons have now been introduced to the game, in order to progress the world timeline."
The game is set in 1898 and it's not gonna change so how the hell does that make sense. But wait, it gets dumber!
"As a part of the new Seasons mechanic, Dutch’s gang can be seen at a camp nearby Blackwater."
What?
"Arthur Morgan will be an instanced character, bolstering the customisation players are using in their most recent single player save."
Why??
"Each season will have a few live events showing events from the story. As this is season one and set before the prologue, there are no live events until the end of the season, where we will see the gang scrambling to flee Blackwater."
Oh for fuck's sake
"Players can now collect Van Der Linde gang bounty posters from around the map, and turn them in to Hosea for 0.25 Gold"
:|

And this is just the first page, folks! And not even the entirety of it, only the highlights

Broadly speaking, this is the general consensus of what players want:
  • Simple QOL features like selling back horses or getting rid of weapons you don't want
  • A continuation of the Jessica LeClerk plot
  • More items to spend all their hoarded cash on
And a few more "out there" concepts being stuff like player housing and more heist missions that require R* to put in a bit more effort.
Honestly at this point I don't think most players want a content update, they just want an update that definitively announces "no, we are not going to continue support for RDO" to set the record straight once and for all, because the way they're stringing players along on a game that has microtransactions yet refuse to communicate even the smallest future plans feels low even for triple A game company standards, but maybe I'm being too naive/optimistic

Still play it sometimes with the boys, game can be a blast with friends, but is also refreshingly single player friendly, one of my go to "chill" games when im in that mood

That said, some things i would like to see added:

-Private lobbies like in GTAO, while the antigriefer options we have are decent, sometimes you just wanna explore around alone, saves some explosive ammo as well

-More expansions ala Moonshiners, maybe buy your own ranch, expand on it, give it a small plot and story missions, make it a viable business with purchasable cattle and shit...

-Expand on already existing content, post-Moonshiners one of the characters implies that things never stay quiet for long, so why not continue with more missions? Make it so your pub has more customizable options, add some locations... Suppose finishing the LeClerk storyline fits here too

-More shit to buy, give us homesteads, horses, vehicles, stuff that makes you wanna spend big bucks on it

-That huge part of the map below where Mexico would be? Use it!

Thats all i can think for now, love the game, but its like that video above mentions... If nothing is announced by July 5th, it's dead.

While the game is running:
Open task manager > go to performance tab > click open resource monitor on the bottom left
Go to network tab, you should see RDR2 pretty high up on the list. Right click, and suspend process. Wait 7-10 seconds and resume process.
If there's a top left pop up in the game saying something along the lines of "changed session due to network error" it worked. Though remember that after some time it will force you back into a normal lobby, so just occassionaly check the players tab to make sure you're the only person in the lobby. I'm not sure what triggers it to do that.

If anything this is great for just triggering legendary animal spawns and random events.

Remember how Manhunt 2 was heavily censored for release until its PC release?

Turns out the console versions are technologically superior to the PC version, presumably due to time constraints or the PC build being different from the console build on account of outsourcing.
