It's a real shame what they did to RDR2. They couldn't be bothered to make an Undead Nightmare 2 expansion.
I guess RDR 1 will always be the best game of the franchise.

GTA Online's microtransactions (Shark Cards and GTA+) single-handedly paid for the development of Red Dead Redemption and GTA VI.

GTA V has also sold over 200 million copies at this point, which easily translates to a few more billions.

TLDR: Rockstar makes a fuck ton of money each year with GTA Online despite only ~4% of the player base spending money. There are no leaks about GTA VI.
Is anybody surprised? Why did these skript kiddies think this was a bombshell that Rockstar would pay good money to keep secret? Oh jeez I'm so shocked that the game full of microtransactions and endless money farming content updates is printing millions of dollars, this will totally ruin Rockstar forever.

So, even if GTA VI doesn't make boatloads like GTA Online, would they really lose money? Say development costs are $1-2 billion, that's a fraction of Shark Card sales. Admittedly, that's for ONE GAME.

Can you imagine $1bn in development costs for video games (not counting consoles) 20-25 years ago?

I mean, it's interesting to get a behind-the-scenes look and be able to get solid information about the insane amounts of money that Rockstar's creation moves, but in the end I agree that expecting money from this bullshit was retarded. I'm sure T2's CEO is shacking knowing that a bunch of nobodies online are pocket watching the multi-billion dollar studio.

Even if, for some miracle, GTA VI flopped, they can just keep making money with GTA Online. The PS4 and Xbox One versions are over 10 years old at this point and they could easily squeeze another 10 years from the PS5.

It's no surprise that Rockstar's games are becoming increasingly ambitious and that the smaller titles that used to be released between the mainline completely disappeared. Why waste time and resources on Bully 2, L.A. Noire 2, Manhunt 3, Max Payne 4, etc. when GTA Online prints gorillions like nothing?

So they hacked into rockstar’s servers and released all the winning they’ve been doing for 13 years?

It's no wonder companies keep chasing the multiplayer/live service dragon. GTAO is a grindy, pay-to-win, anti-fun experience and people pay for the privilege to the tune of billions to put themselves through hell for it. Gamers/whales are the ultimate example of rewarding bad behavior. At least when Disney put out dogshit they usually take hits at the box office for it. When Rockstar inevitably alienate long time GTA fans with 6 and drop the first ever safe edgy politically correct Grand Theft Auto, the reward will be the number 1 bestseller across every single platform, the most played game across every single platform, and it'll be rewarded 10/10's across the board from feckless game urinalists and rated overwhelmingly positive by the niggercattle who have infested Steam over the past decade.

Its the blind leading the blind. Hopefully after this turd gets dropped the industry crashes and we'll have a reset.
