People expecting it to bomb like ghostbusters are letting their politics cloud their judgement

Force Awakens opened at $529m on its first weekend to all around glowing reviews
Rogue One otoh opened at $255m on its first weekend to positive but mixed reviews

It's not gonna bomb, and might make it to a billion plus, but it's definitely not the success of episode 7

It will be interesting to see how it performs during the next couple weeks. On the one hand, people have more time off, kids are off school, and not much else is in theaters that could offer competition.

On the other hand it is definitely not meant for young kids, its boring as fuck and people already seem fatigued of Star Wars. So I would imagine that while it does well, it won't come close to TFA.

I think its bizzarre people would read it not having a white male lead as carrying some anti white message.

Ghostbusters made 46million on its opening weekend and was a net loss over its run of between 25-75million.

It has already not done a ghostbusters. That is a bomb and continuing to Insist rogue one has gone the same way is absolutely letting your politics cloud your judgement.

One would not expect it to make anything like as much as epidsode 7, the return of a loved series people believed dead after a decade was always going to be huge.

From the wiki:

In the United States, the film made $29 million from its Thursday night previews, off 51% from The Force Awakens'$57 million, but was the highest Thursday gross of 2016, and $71.1 million on Friday, the 12th highest grossing opening day of all-time. The film grossed $46.3 million on Saturday (a 35% drop from Friday) and $155.1 million in its opening weekend, the third biggest debut of 2016.[111]

If that is your definition of a bombed movie almost every movie this year 'bombed'.

It's a pretty good movie honestly, and I really enjoyed it. The entire third act threw a massive curveball at me and this easily was the darkest star wars movie I think overall. The acting was quite good, the CGI was excellent to passable (First Tarkin scene) but how Vader was used and portrayed was excellent.

There were some minor things I disliked but otherwise I enjoyed it immensely.

You said it will bomb. It already hasnt.

your measure for bombing earlier in the thread was ghostbusters.

that was a typo it's meant to say "not gonna bomb". And I qualified what I meant saying this whole thing would be like gb16

The truth is that this movie is gonna be exactly like ghostbusters:

- for whatever it was supposed to achieve at the box office, it will be a failure
- fanboys will claim it's the worst thing ever and it killed the franchise worse than jar jar
- critics will claim it's one of the best movies of the year
- Twitter feminists will say it's one of the best movies of the year but won't pay to go and see it
- it's just gonna be bland boring and generic but nowhere near as bad as people claimed it is
I said based on what its expected to. Just like GB16.

Episode 7 made $2.06b box office worldwide on a $300m budget. Disney and people in the business are already saying they are expecting rogue one do about $1b box office on its $200m budget. That's the realistic to optimistic projections.

Could it be higher? Sure. It could be an unexpected hit and be much better than anticipated and have people going over and over to see it like 7. It still won't top $1.5b. However if fanboys reject it it might not even break the billion cap in box office revenue. Which is not to say it's a flop, but certainly not the powerhouse Disney want the franchise to be.

Which is exactly what's happening right now

Ah, 'not gonna bomb' rather changes the meaning of your post.

Although from what i see its bang on its box office targets, slightly ahead of ss and with a chinese realease to round it up to $1bn.

But its all rather academic given the fundamental nature of that typo.

I like the new starwars films. The Mary sue shit is kinda lame, but whatever.

Also, I wish they wouldn't put the empire as 100% retarded evil all the time and put the KOTOR grey jedi lore shit out there at some point.

Also more cuck ball and cuck-staff.

I think the actors were wooden and their delivery was rather sub optimal. Music sucked ass.

Don't give a shit what colour their skin is. White moustache pilot guy acted just as horrible.

Its like the cast was vulcans. Also, KOTOR cruisers can now tow ten times bigger star destroyers. Also tentacle rape is really not a good guy trait. This is not 40k to hose it with grimdark than a 15 year old edgelord can take. The ending is a real kids movie ending too

Hk-47 would wipe out the whole rebellion and empire!

Fuck you stupid piece of shit faggot. You really need to eat that hat, right now.

Most of the time the spergs you see going on about The Force Awakens and Rogue One are just as bad as the critics on the other side. With their info graphs about destroying white men and race mixing an feminism and stuff. But every so often you come across something and are like.... come on.... really? Like why would you want to make the spergs you mock look right?
