Rome Total War: Brutii
March of the Fasci.png
Rome is in a time of great upheaval, Josue "Summus" Luna has marched on Rome and has reorganized the Republic, bringing an end to the four scores of war, with peace at hand there is only one recourse, more war.
Rome Total Map.png

The world is ripe for the taking, to the direct North of the Kiwi Republic of Rome, lies the Gaul's and Ligurian's. The Gaul's poured into Italy roughly Sixty years ago during the third crisis known as the Hellenistic Revolt of Croton, where the Greek's and Samite's' managed to regain control of their home regions after the pulling up of the Legions to deal with the second crisis, having to them send the whole army South, leaving the tributary state of Alphinea open for invasion, the Latin puppet state had relied on Roman support in the oppression of the native peoples, giving the Gaul's an inroad. Now the Gaul's have a powerful foothold in Italy and are a primary target of Josue's foreign policy. To the South in Sicily lies the Laconian League in Syracuse and the Canaan Republic in Poeni, a land grab from thirty-two years ago where the local Greek's where completely conquered by the Roman's, Canaan's, and Spartan's, a powder keg in the making. Also where Josue make his Mark by conquering Massena. To the West, a number of Canaan colonies in Sardinia and Spain, the purse filler of the Canaan empire, a distant goal. To the East lies Epirus, Illyria, and Greece, the "Civilized World" It is home to the Laconian League (The Spartan's), Macedon, The Ionic League (Athens, Byzantium, and Crete)and the Thracian's, this is where our faction will expand for the first score of years or so.

Where You come in, I need Legates, consuls, and governors, to allow for a narrative to form rule these provinces. write a roman name and give an imagine you wish to represent you on the map.

Something to note about this lets play, I am going to play on Medium, and am only going to have as much regions as the next best roman plus one. To make up for this, I am going to have field Armies assist the Computer in their conquest to help get this game a going.

60 BC
The-Roman-Bath-Emmanuel-Oberhausen-Oil-Painting.jpg
A Year in review, the year of 60 BC saw a Scipii and Julii aligned Consul. Josue who was the Imperator in Rome had chosen them, The three factions forming in Rome where made up of the three factions that backed Josue's horse in the civil war against Lucius "Umbra" Cosconia, The Julii were Land Reformist who backed Josue in opposition to Lucius whom had killed one of their kin in the senate, The Scipii were the leading family in a faction of Patricians whom favored Josue's hawkish policies compared to the domestic dominated policies of Lucius's camp, the Brutii where the Equites occupying the formally Greek South whose revolt had been largely quelled by Josue's subordinates in 72-66 BC.
roman-law-roman-history.jpg
Following the quick 17 month civil war, Rome found itself carved up into four camps, Josue and his three personal legions occupied Rome proper, and were generally constitutional conservatives, who valued pedigree and brown nosing in equal measures.
triarii art.jpg
The Scipii are largely a branch of this same sentiment, having a stronger focus on Cognomen and Military services, they found themselves camped in Messana and
Campania, the two cities of great importance to the story of Josue, Messana was his great conquest in his twenties, having defeated the Greeks in the field, then simple marching into the city. Campania was both the last hold out for the Greek Rebels of 107-66 BC, having taken it in 68 BC and destroying a Legion, and where Lucius lost the war when his triarii were wiped out in the retreat. Due to poor maneuvering they do not have a Legion under arms and are desperately raising one at the moment.
Populares.jpg
The Julii occupy the Southern
Etruscan lands, this came to be because the Patrician's and the Equites' in the North backed Lucius in the Civil war and Josue allowed for their estates to be liquidated and the land to be distributed to citizens. They have a Legion raised and have lobbied for the right to invade Liguria to give the people more land.
Gay Caesar.png
The Brutii, the landed
aristocrats of noble birth, we occupy the Southern portions of Rome, with our large plantations manned by Greek slaves, We were wise enough pay off enough soldiers to maintain a legion. We would like to suspend those rabble rousing Tribunes, but Josue stands in the way. Josue is nearly 60 and will one day no longer rule Rome, when that happens we may have a chance at changing the way this country is ran.
20230209145744_1.jpg
Josue want's the Croton Legion (the one under Brutii control) to take Epirus, an ally of the Laconian League, to bait a war.
20230209145938_1.jpg
The Croton Legion is
technically 4th Legion, but it is known as the Croton Legion because it's officers overwhelming come from a clique in Croton, its two Co-Legates are Ioannas Fumo ( @John W. Smoke Jr. ) and Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus ( @Fougaro ).
20230209145954_1.jpg
First Legion (Primo Legion), Second Legion (Lupa Legion), and Third Legion (Domitia Legion) are stationed in the area
surrounding Rome, as their Legates are personally loyal to Josue and are there to prevent another seizure of power. The final legion, Fifth Legion (Umbrian Legion) was dominated by Populares aligned with the Julii.
20230209150123_1.jpg

Controversially it was decided to recruit Samnites to bolster the ranks for this campaign, these warriors are a mirror to the Triarii that serve as our best men, the local tradition before the Hastati and Principe where introduced as a blend of infantry and skirmishers was to have men with short spears in maniple regiments face off in a manner similar to the Hoplites of Greece.
20230209152306_1.jpg

Before we could force the Spartan's to meet us at Epirus, they seem to have provoked conflict with the Scipii on Sicily, defeating a minor force in the field. The Scipii are gathering forces to counter the Syracusians and restore their honor, Fifth Legion marched on Liguria and suffered no serious resistance, as a result the Julii were able to rotate another one of their guys into the consulship for 59 BC, if we can move fast, we can seize the other seat from the Scipii.
20230209152410_1.jpg20230209152529_1.jpg
The invasion was assisted by the fact that the Epirot's had their wall destroyed in a treaty with Illyria after the Illyrians destroyed their army in detail on the field.

The Army arrives with Ioannas and Fugaros finding the Phalanx away from the conscripts, with the conscripts instantly fleeing for the town square, giving the legion a total advantage.

The Skirmishers are sent in first to lob javelins at them to soften them up, with any luck their Tyrant Aristodemos will die.
20230209153129_1.jpg20230209153145_1.jpg

We are able to hit them with a volley, before being forced back, in the retreat a single peltast is struck down.
20230209153148_1.jpg20230209153232_1.jpg

After reforming the skirmishers return a volley, catching the Epirot's off guard.
20230209153239_1.jpg20230209153258_1.jpg
The Phalanx begins to melt away, seeing this the younger equites' are ordered to pursue.
20230209153442_1.jpg20230209153458_1.jpg
Seeing the incoming cavalry, the Tyrant is able to get his men to reform a Phalanx, forcing the equites' to pull back, instead, a cohort of Hastati are ordered to finish the job, while the Cavalry charges the Conscripts in the town square.
20230209153556_1.jpg

20230209153632_1.jpg

Without puling their swords from their scabbards, the Hastati are able to completely route the Epirot's, and
proceed to chase them down.
20230209153651_1.jpg20230209153838_1.jpg

The older veteran Equites attack from the front, with the younger Equites smashing into their rear, leading to a total slaughter.

A victory for Rome
20230209153921_1.jpg20230209153944_1.jpg

After the battle is over we count the dead, seven among the enemy live, while eight of our own lie dead, the initial peltast who was taken for dead had managed to survive and return to service before the year was out. Julius Caesar ( @Pitbull Victim ) is made consul for 59 BC with Servius Cassius ( @Zaryiu2 ) expected to take his place in 58 BC. that was the year of 60 BC.

Pyrus the Epirot.jpg
News from the East seems that the Macedonians, Thracians, and Seleucids are carving up the Ionic League at Athens, Byzantium, and Lyrica Respectively, while The Laconian League prepares for the long fight with Rome, Syracuse had been the head of the Doric League that was smashed by the Romans and Samnites in 159 BC. The Dual Kings of Lacoedon understand that Romans had superior Cavalry and Skirmishers to the Doric forces and hope to effectively counter this problem.
20230210101013_1.jpg20230210101032_1.jpg
a Josue wanting to avoid a general Hellenistic Alliance wishes to have Ioannas Fumo @John W. Smoke Jr. send a diplomatic mission to them to possible carve up the region. The Julii make a tolken promise to support the war, leaving us the last faction to declare a public commitment to the war.
20230210101042_1.jpg20230210101113_1.jpg
a The Diplomatic party is sent East, and Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus @Fougaro leads a naval expedition to scout out the Polis of Thermon, whom joined the Laconian League after a joint effort of Sparta and Epirus booted the Macedonians in 162 BC. As it was, the Oligarchy had elected to have Licymnios take a force to dislodge the legion at Apollicia and liberate Epirus.
20230210101337_1.jpg20230210101349_1.jpg20230210101356_1.jpg
The Macedonians ended up having a diplomatic party reach us first, attempts to reach a further understanding beyond momentary peace was unable to be achieved.

The Senate Orders Fugarus's fleet to assist Sixth Legion (Green Legion) in Sicily by blockading Syracuse.
20230210101502_1.jpg20230210101542_1.jpg

The fleet, before heading West notices that the Thermonian Army was instead heading East to assist Athens perhaps. The situation in Sicily was less than alarming but troubled enough to pay close attention, the Sixth Legion was split in three place, one third besieging Syracuse, another Third (with the Legate), was stationed to keep an eye on Carthage's holdings, and the last third was still on the mainland waiting to be ferried. The Spartans on the other hand had landed a force to assist their allies in the repulsion of the Romans.
20230210101624_1.jpg20230210101716_1.jpg
Fifth Legion was resting in Arretium having released a number of men into Liguria to cultivate the land. Josue had First and Third Legion come together under Aulus "Felix" Domitia for training. Croton Legion waited in Epirus for orders. As the year came to a close, Servius Cassius @Zaryiu2 was elected consul for 58 BC along with Placus Clovius Genialis, a Senator outside the four main factions. @Pitbull Victim Julius Caesar was made governor of Epirus for a term of the next four years (58-55 BC). That was the year 59 BC.

58 BC was largely a quiet year, no major revolts or upsets.
20230210230620_1.jpg20230210230638_1.jpg
The port of Syracuse was blockaded as ordered.
20230210230826_1.jpg
The Consul Placus Clovius Genialis wanted the Fourth Legion to subdue Thermon and the rest of the Aetolia.
20230210230911_1.jpg
The Spartans had been defeated in the field and were on a ship headed home, Syracuse was expected to surrender by January.
20230210230941_1.jpg20230210230949_1.jpg

Fifth Legion stood at the border with the Gaul's while a small detachment landed on Carthaginian Sardinia, Josue's plan becoming clearer, Josue wants to consolidate the West Mediterranean Islands and wants us to distract the Greeks while the Scipii and Julii carve up the colonies of Carthage. As the year closes out Flavius Bucculeius Crispin and Nonus Loreius Cita unaligned Senators are given consulship for 57 BC.
20230210231023_1.jpg20230210232118_1.jpg
With war looming in 57 BC, orders for a Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Legion are given, Servius Cassius @Zaryiu2 is expected to have this Legion build by 54 BC, as the Republic of Punic's in Carthage is at war with Rome now and aligned with the Laconian League.

Epirot's lead by Paris, who was probably expecting the Laconian League to have arrived in force. Julius Caesar @Pitbull Victim orders Ioannas Fumo @John W. Smoke Jr. to take the Croton Legion and defeat Paris in the field.
20230210232452_1.jpg20230210232509_1.jpg20230210232534_1.jpg

Ioannas comes to the field with four Cohorts of Hastati and the Cohorts of Equites. Paris has with him a phalanx of hoplites, some Illyrian mercenaries, a militia, and his companions. If he were able to have meet up with Aristodemos, he might have been able to keep the conscripts in line and match us on the field, but as it stands the best option is to first pelt his hoplites, then have the equites and hastati charge in.
20230210232620_1.jpg20230210232709_1.jpg
Forming a crescent, the greater portion of equites take the left wing, with a small contingent of 25 taking the right wing, the plan is to have the hastati engage the hoplites, then crash the left wing into the commander and Illyrians, leaving the right wing to engage in pursuit of fleeing enemies.
20230210232953_1.jpg20230210233152_1.jpg
Paris charges the right flank, marching his infantry and peltast forward to meet the hastati, we are forced to pull the right flank back and charge the left flank early.
20230210233213_1.jpg20230210233308_1.jpg20230210233311_1.jpg

The hoplites break as the equites charge into the peltast, this causes a general collapse of the Epirot front line with the Infantry mostly engaging in pursuing actions while I have the Equites and a Cohort of Hastati deal with the peasants and Companions.
20230210233423_1.jpg20230210233431_1.jpg20230210233448_1.jpg
With both commanders in the thick of it, Paris is slain and his companions break.
20230210233550_1.jpg20230210233557_1.jpg

After a short pursuit we had driven the enemy from the field, losing some 300 men, the Epirots will not be able to coordinate an effective resistance for some time.
20230210233723_1.jpg20230210233738_1.jpg
Thermon is besieging Athens, taking the opportunity following the humiliatingly defeat of the Macedonians, it might be prudent to push the Croton Legion to strike while the main force is at Athens.
20230210233838_1.jpg
Armenia and Parthia take a stab at the Seleucids, the old men of Asia. Once the most powerful empire in the known world, the Seleucids have been drained from countless wars with their many neighbors, the Pontics and Ptolemaic Egypt are expected to jump in as well. Macedon declares war on the Illyria and Trace, retreating from Attica for the moment.

The Laconian Fleet is spotted near Tarentum and the docked fleet is ordered to meet them in the bay, Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus @Fougaro is struck with a fever and less capable men find defeat on this day.

The Scipii march the battered remnants of Sixth Legion towards the Carthaginian city of Lilybeum, a colony of Corinth founded in 8th century BC by political refugees. Sating the masses with farm land on Sardinia and Liguria, the Fifth Legion returns to its post and the Julii plot their next move, Josue moves all three legions to the field, and the Scipii station Seventh Legion near Rome. A Scipii and a Julii backed senators take the consulship for 56 BC as the year comes to an end.

56BC was a year like many other, with successes and upsets.
20230212125108_1.jpg

Pontus declares war on the Seleucids
(just as predicted, and this is probably going to be the second to last time I have a segue to talk about the Seleucids). Seleucia the greatest of the successor states of Alexander's Macedonia, was one of the five great empires in the 100s BC and even until the 80s BC they were a great empire, but in the 70s BC they lost Persia in a surprise uprising lead by the Parthians, at the same time their army was weened protecting the poli of Ellada (Mainland Greece) and the
Aegean from Antipatrid Macedonia in the North. The Seleucids having largely shielded the Lacedonian and Ionic leagues for nearly a century where finally made to spread their wings and stand on their own following the retreat of the Seleucids. The Ptolemaic Kingdom of Eygpt took advantage of their traditional rivals weakness and took Judea and the Sanai from them. The Seleucids are still the fifth most powerful state in the Mediterranean, but the writing is on the wall for them; Carthage, Macedonia, Egypt, and Rome have all eclipsed her this last decade.

20230212125139_1.jpg
Ioannas Fumo @John W. Smoke Jr. Occupies Cassope, the primary port of Aetolia and tributary of Thermon, Kleomenes VII the Demakite King of Sparta, The post Spartiate king chosen from amongst the Perioeci by the Seleucids.
After the defeat of Kleomenes V in 202 BC by the Seleucids the last of the male Agiads had died with a few women still alive in Egypt, the Eurypontids had been eradicated in 206 BC when Nabis slew all but a single member of the family executed, he kept the sole survivor Medea as a concubine to bait out Kleomenes. This would lead the remaining spartians within the city to revolt and kill him giving Kleomenes the ability to return without bloodshed. Ironically leading to his own dynasties destruction.
Kleomenes brought with him the professional Lacedonian army with his personal Syracusian companions.

20230212125146_1.jpg
Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus @Fougaro manages to talk his officers into not selling out to the Rhodians after the defeat and to instead return to Rome to reorganize. The Rhodians are the second power of the Lacedonic League providing the funds and naval power, their fleet is considered second to none and their close ties to Seleucia had allowed them access to Phoenician idea's of ship making.
20230212125204_1.jpg
Ionnas and his co-commander Publius Faustus hire Illyrian Mercenaries to bolster their numbers against the Spartans, whom are considered the most formidable people in Greece.
20230212125241_1.jpg
The Green Legion (6th Legion) is crushed by the Punics in Sicily and are forced to try and march back to Syracuse.

20230212125415_1.jpg
The Macedonians are sending an army south, it could be to take Athens, stab the Thermonians in the back, or bolster the occupation of the Peloponnese, Corinth being their seat of power in the region,
The Peloponnese was once the home to a number of Poli and peoples, but since Macedonia had taken over Greece under Phillip II in 338 BC the number of polis shrank. First was Thebes in 335 BC, then Phylake in Thessaly in 323 BC, Elis, Argos, and Megara were destroyed in 297 BC and in 276 BC the Macedonians massacred or enslaved two thirds of the peninsula, leaving Sparta and Corith the only major survivors when the Seleucids expelled the Macedonians in 267 BC. Following the Seleucid retreat from mainland Greece, Macedon managed to reoccupy Corinth and annex the Thessalian League with Larissa as the regional capital. Today (56 BC) the Greeks are still shrinking, Anatolia and Italy being the two exceptions to this rule.
The Lacedonian League being largely powerless to stop this injustice.

The Julii to the surprise of everyone decides to break bread with the Gaul's.

The battle to decide the fate of Sparta is at hand.
20230212125931_1.jpg20230212130027_1.jpg
The 4th Legion is organized into rows with the first row being skirmishers to pelt javelins at the Greeks, the second row is the infantry, with the rear row being the Cavalry whom will hunt down the fleeing foes when the battle ends.

20230212134816_1.jpg20230212135039_1.jpg
The Cavalry goes around the sides while the hounds are send in to harass the infantry, the younger Equites manage to reach the Companions first while Ionnas and the older Equites plan to crash through the Left flank of the army to reach them.

The Leagues united Army, with the

The Umbrian Legion (
5th) pacts on galleys and almost
certainly plan to conquer some Carthaginian land. The Balearic would be the easiest to conquer, but silver and gold lie in Spain, and grain as much as one could eat in Africa. Olive must be putting in over time to allow them the leeway for this.

An attack on the city would lead to a lot of men dying, Publius instead opts to wait for the Lacedonians to attack again. Josue places two of his men as Consul forgoing the democratic
process entirely citing worrying actions from two legions (5th and 7th). Preventing Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus from receiving his rightfully won second consulship and is sent to replace Publius in Aetolia.
Senate 55 BC.png
The Roman Senate; Pricep (
the Gold Box) is the leader of the Senate, Josue "Summus" Luna plans to hold this position for life, though in earlier periods it went to the oldest serving senator. Consul ( the Two Purple Boxes) are the heads of state and are elected every year, they are currently two of josue's cronies (In fact his whole faction is made up of cronies looking for power and influence by following the Sun of roman politics). The Patriciate, the 27 (
technically thirty as the Pricep and Consul's always come from this subgroup) top seats (the Boxes above the rest) and the upper body of the senate and is only open to those of Patrician blood, as well as being the first to give speeches and cast votes (you guys make up four the six green boxes). The Senate, the rest (lower 162 seats) of the senate. The four main factions of the Senate are expectedly Josue's camp followers at 52 senators (Josue included), the Scipii at 41 Senators, the Brutii at 39 senators, and the Julii at 21 senators, with the remaining 48 being part of minor or no faction and are thus considered unaligned.
Until next time

The Rhodians have the most hoplites of the League now, and have them near by Thermon to threaten Croton Legion. As it turned out Dorius had taken a fatal wound in the battle and the Physician Euricles was unable to prevent the wound from getting infected and Dorius died from lung complications in the early spring as a result.

The
Gaul's invaded Illyria with the support of the Julii, rather than open that can of worms, Servius Cassius @Zaryiu2 instead opts to conquer Krete much to the senates delight. Josue now deciding to seek peace with these people, eases pressure on the Brutii senators in Rome.

6th Legion is taken over by Nonus "Fraternus" Cato. Cato is a Scipii in theory, but in practice his dedication to honoring vows and following the rules allows Josue to always have an excuse to keep him within Latium. The Julii legate Lepidus is expected to reach the

The Rhodians dishonor their alliance to Lacedonia and Thermon and march east, giving us the chance to take Aetolia once and for all. Julius Caesar @Pitbull Victim takes command of the Croton Legion. We set up the army with the cavalry flanking the Samnites who will ram the gate, in the event that the ram is destroyed we have three spare. The Illyrians and Velites will follow the Samnites to the wall and cover them, with the Hastati
coming in and dealing with the Greeks once inside.

The Velites are able to harass the defenders enough to were they let the Samnites ram the gate unopposed, discipline in the Lacedonian force is faltering.

Breaking through the gate, the Samnites have unenviable task of holding the front while the Hastati set up behind them, but neither Antigonos or the Thermonese are able to break their will in time. Josue delighted to hear about the absolute victory issues a unit of his
veterans to Tarentum. @Fougaro Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus's son Pompeius Maximus is elected consul for 53 BC at 22 years of age, a breach of the Cursus honorum; in which one must hold the offices of Quaestor (held no younger than 28), Aedile (34), Praetor (39), and only after serving in those offices is one meant to hold a consulship (42). His accomplice being a Scipii.

Servius Cassius @Zaryiu2 turns the fleet around, to repair and rebuild, Consul Pompeius Maximus extends Servius' imperium for another two years. this draw's ire from Felix Flavius, the Scipii consul, who claimed this was yet another breach of the traditional roman way. Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus @Fougaro takes offense to this and demands that Felix retract his slander, leading to a brawl among the Brutii and Scipii senators, leading Josue to call in the Pricep guard to break up the fight. Using this opportunity to have both consul's sacked and replaced with two of his lackeys for the remaining 5 months. Pompeius protested this leading Josue to publicly berate him. Fugarus Maximus the younger, Pompieus' younger brother, responded "more men follow the rising sun, then the setting" leading to Josue having "headaches" for the next several weeks. Ioannas “Lacedocus” Fumo was thusly left to decide what to do about the Macedon army within Epirus.

The Julii organize the Tribunes to block the doors leaving the Senate hall. Working in groups of three, the ten Tribunes of the Plebs are able to keep the Senators stuck for sixteen hours before Julius Caesar @Pitbull Victim sucker punches a Tribune and another fight amongst the senate erupts, leading Julius Caeser to take blow to the head so strong, that his vision is forever crossed. The following weeks, Josue orders over half of the Senate to administer or investigate various Roman territories and Cities, Fugarus “Autismus” Maximus @Fougaro is given the pro-consular position of administrator of the Streams South of the Poe Valley, a pointless position that is meant to keep someone out of Rome, Julius Caeser being proscribed for striking a tribune flees to Hispania.

Corinth, the head of the Macedonian aligned Arcadian League is besieged by Spartians, with a Rhodean Army drilling in Lacedon with the probable mission of invading Athens in 50-48 BC. Seventh Legion flee's the field. It is a complete disaster, Servius as well as Longius and the Equites were cleared by the Senate of any wrong doing, but the Infantry was another matter, The two surviving Centurions where to be relieved of duty and returned to Rome for trial, the Samnite's paid an indemnity to the Senate, and a number of troops were going to be executed once the Legion made it to Thermon.

Word reaches Fumo in Thermon that Pergamon had an even larger army than the Rhodians and was planning to land in Hellas, probably with the plan of taking Larisa. Josue orders 4th and 7th Legion to repel the Lacedonian League from Hellas, as well as the capture of Sparta, Josue see's no reason why the Macedonians should quip about that if Rome saves their empire. Josue suspends elections for the Consul next year.

49 BC
49 BC would mark the year that Josue would step down from his role as princep having reached his Seventieth year, his health began to fade, though he had yet to choose his direct successor, with Sextus "Flavius" Dominus and his nephew Otto Vespasius being the two most likely candidates.

The Gallic Confederation came for trade rights, and an exchanging of the maps. Gaul would probably be able to push to Rome itself before facing sufficient pushback if they were to invade the Peninsula.

The revived Hellenic League crushes Acestes and Heramenes on the Isthmus of Corinth, driving the hapless Macedons into the sea, either Athens or Larisa are expected to fall following this battle.

Seventh Legion are packed onto the new fleet and their first stop is to blockade the Lacedon port for the Senate.

The great Lucius "Optimius" Scipio along with Fifth Legion are desimated by the Punics at Lilybaum. Scipio's son Remus Scipio being only a boy of 29, can not take over his fathers faction, but the Father in Law of Remus can. Metellus won this front with his daughter Lustina. The other Scipii are shocked as Metellus is the biggest asshole in the senate, second only to Cato the stiff. It is a wonder to all of Rome why he would marry into such a family. I mean just look at her

In other news, the desprate fighting in Parma has escalated once again, with starvation being wide and common. This debacle is of course greatly over shadowed by the embarrassment on Sicily, and is also likely going to go Romes way anyway.

Josue, wanting the Gaul's to suffer in his lifetime, demands that the Croton Legion under @Pitbull Victim Ioannas “Lacedocus” Fumo to attack them in Illyria.

Eygpt attacks Numidia, this probably means the Seleucids are probably a doomed people. Eygpt as it where seems to have grown into the great Empire to the east, eclipsing the other successor states. Surprisingly Gaul has grown into the fifth empire, leaving the Seleucids to the dust bin of history.

The Macedonians send Lysimachus with a large army to pacify the Lacedonians. Seventh Legion, @Zaryiu2 Servius takes the fleet South to Krete

The Kretans, met us on the beach, their stratigos thinks that if they can beat us on the beaches, thus having beat us on both land and sea, we would leave them be.

The Kretens bring up two armies, with one being from Kydonia, and the other being the allied army from the lesser Poli.

Arriving on the Field, our boats, only an arrow shot away. The allied army has taken the high ground of the hill, with the Kydonian army marching fourth from their city.

The plan is simple, splitting the army in two, the equites are going to deal with the larger Allied army, while the infantry deals with the doris rich Kydonians. Kydonia being a production center for purple dye, has a small fortune that allows them to field a number of hoplites, while the allies mostly use light infantry swordsmen.
20230701201236_1.jpg20230701201316_1.jpg
Attacking first, the equites split themselves into three groups, the best stacked on the left flank crashing into the infantry, the center playing chicken with the hoplites, and the right going around to strike the army from the rear.

With the hoplites distracted, the rest of the army is routed or slain, with the Stratigos fleeing from the field.

And with a swift motion, the hoplites are killed to the man

The Kreten turncoats did their work, the Kydonian army was dropping like flies, making the infantry charge go that much better, the elected Olicarch leading the Kydonian army found him and his army sandwiched between a hastati pincer attack

With overwhelming force, the Kydonians dissolve and the day is won, Servius Cassius having won his triumph.

With the Seventh Legions victory, the Democratic Kydonia was transferred to an Oligarchal client state of Rome.

The navy then Crushes the Kreten navy to cement their control over the island.

Lysimachus sends his congratulations and we are able to get a closer look at his force, heavily cavalry and a completely professional army. They are learning.

@Pitbull Victim Julius Caesar retakes the island, and a spanish force lands, plans unknown. But Julius himself will be returning to Rome.

A group of men band together to revolt against Rome, a small force is to be organized and let by @Fougaro Maximus, having been deemed highly capable for the construction of the Adrian Fleet.

Cato, finally free from Josue's games embarks on a ship with Sixth Legion.

With Josue's influence wanning, Consulor elections return for 48 BC, with Servius Cassius and Julius Caesar serving as Consuls for the year.

Finally was able in a long while to get back on the farms, and it looked bad for a while for Servius
1. Do we info on the gauls to gage our chances against them?
2. I'd say Sparta as if i understand well they look to be easiest to beat

With 200 men I could slay the entire faction, they are the weakest. and Sparta it is.
