It always baffled me how loyal they were to the Xbox brand, especially for shit like Minecraft, where the console version was grossly outdated and inferior to the PC version.
They were being sponsored/bankrolled/given things for free by Microsoft for quite a while if I remember correctly. Specifically because of Bungie and their work with Halo for RvB, they even had (very small) bit part VA work in Halo 3 and Halo Reach.

Microsoft supported them pretty heavily so I get it for that alone, but I also think part of it was how much Xbox was associated with the epic dude bro mountain dew!! culture they were going for which worked pretty good. Once they started losing that it really went down hill so I think being so loyal might have helped them keep going longer than they would have.

Also their group being called Achievement Hunter and the whole culture around showing off your Gamerscore.

man i haven't given a shit about achievements or trophies or anything like that since the 360, i used to love hunting achievements back then, it's how i found rooster teeth to begin with. i can almost narrow it down to the day when i first found them, i was looking up some achievement guide for the stand alone prequel dlc for dead rising 2, it was Jack and Geoff doing the video and i found them fun so kept going video to video and eventually became a full fan.

The first video I have ever watched with them was their first Galacticraft adventures. To this day, that video's audio still sounds 'different' from their other ones, and I love it.

My First video was rage quit with “ no luca no” I thought it was funny and branched from there
Rage Quit Michael was always at his peak when he screams himself hoarse or breaks character. Case in point, Rage Quit: Succulent. Goes from a stupid bit to character break as the game unravels and he can only react in horror at what he's seeing
Fuck I miss old RT
"I think I won. I don't ever want to win again"

Wait, why did Allahna quit another job?
She recently took a month off (unpaid) because her step dad was terminally ill. She realized she hasn't spend a lot of time with family. Because she was working nonstop the past 10 years. And only got 10 days off a year.

The longest time she did spend time with her family the past 10 years, was when her step dad died. She's going freelance. Working on a Metroidvania type game, twitch and some other stuff.

One thing that I'll never like about Americans, Australians or whatever the fuck is she. Placing your work and career ambition over your family. Then reality comes crashing down on you like this and you have to make sacrifices.

My first video was an achievement guide for Assassins Creed II, I was having trouble with one achievement, I forget which, and the video helped me figure it out. Slowly but surely I started watching other stuff, but Immersion is what made me an RT fan.

I don't think it's that prevalent elsewhere, but in America there's this real idea that you constantly need to be grinding or else you're a failure that a lot of people subscribe to. You get offices that demand unpaid overtime for salaried positions or else you're in danger of being fired as a cost cutting measure. Putting in the 40 hours you're paid for and nothing else was considered being lazy, or later "quiet quitting", and your boss would make it clear he was not happy about that shit.

With places like youtube, you need to be constantly grinding because of the algorithm and also people's easy ability to forget about a creator unless they were front and center all the time.

Moral of the story: good riddance of Alanah from the Net, hopefully she went back to Ozzieland and retired to a quiet life.

That was a trip down memory lane. I like to read the ancient references in the comments when I rewatch old AH. "Still a better love story than Twilight" and all that jazz.

Zoomers and gen alpha are starting to buck against this but the issue is that they tend to swing the pendulum too far back the other way.
