Rope + carabiner for emergency descent

I live on the 5th floor of an old building. I want to set up a way to quickly attach a rope to the balcony railing and descend to the ground level in case of fire. I got the thickest rope I could find (up to 300kg, not for professional climbing) and a 26-11-8 carabiner. I used the fisherman's knot to attach the rope to the carabiner, but I'm afraid the latter may get damaged when it's subjected to force. I'm a slim guy of above average height.

What would be the quickest and safest way to attach the rope to the railing?

Quickest : Dufour knot. Really fun to do and undo, be careful not to accidentally pull on the second strand. Absolutely never use as a working rope, this is only for a one and done descent.
Safest : probably a double figure 8 knot to replace the carabiner. You'll have to pull half the length of your rope through to set it up though.
In a real emergency situation, you shouldn't worry about getting your rope back. Simply tie one end of the rope on your anchor and get the fuck down.

I've been thinking about making a general ropes & knots thread for a while on this board. I might get around to it now that I know there's some interest.
 
Are you really gonna count on attaching it securely with the potential panic of a dangerous situation? Why wouldn't you attach it in advance?

Also up to 300kg is the amount for passive loads. I would get something better, because you will be moving back and forth and such.

Like the guy above me said, I'm afraid it will be affected by temperature and humidity.
 
The knot weakens the ropes with which it is tied and should not be trusted in critical applications, particularly when using slippery synthetic rope

OP, you're the biggest retard if you are going to trust your life with that knot on a carabiner. Learn to tie a bowline and a stopper or a figure eight around the railing and then use the locking carabiner with a belay device like a Black Diamond ATC.

Better yet, just use the stairwell.
 
Op you are retarded and will die using that. That caribiner will not support the weight of a human. Get a proper climbing caribiner. You need to anchor a proper anchor point either into those bricks or into the studwork of the exterior wall if it's a wood framed and sided building then attach a climbing pulley system to it.

In fairness, the carabiner is a Camp brand locking carabiner and may be intended for climbing/rope work. A static line around a railing that is capable of holding weight without being shock loaded could work. His setup though is unbelievably retarded and he has no idea what he is doing or if the railing can even hold his weight. The real question is how he intended to get down, was he going to use the Dulfersitz method?
