Not sure Al here understands what the Streisand effect is. She’s not trying to suppress/hide something. If she was, her lawyers would just demand the offenders wipe their tweet history, not tweet an apology outlining exactly what they said.

I feel like that Andy Dwyer meme sums up a surprisingly large amount of the people who have gone along with the Rowling hate, honestly. "It's what everybody else is saying, she must have done something horrible to warrant such a reaction."
The sheer extent of the bile directed towards Rowling also performs the useful function of keeping the doubters in line and discouraging opposition. You don't want to end up in the same situation as J.K., but without her money, lawyers and bodyguards to protect you, now do you?

This stems from a complete misunderstanding of what people actually care about.
Sure they'll condemn whatever monster the news decided to shine a spotlight on today but what really gets people's blood boiling is that cunt neighbor who plays his music too loud or something. People give lip service to all the "oppressed classes" on account of it being no skin off their balls but fuck with the teenage fantasy wizard video game and they'll predictably act like you walked up to them and kicked their puppy in the face.
Hating people takes energy, apathy is the norm until you fuck with people, I'd put good money on this whole tantrum being responsible for more "transphobia" than Rowling.
