It’s like that old Bruce... Coville(?) short story about censors cutting Hamlet for a school play due various special interest groups (starting from real ones like National Suicide Hotline and NIMH and going down to crazy ones like Tailors Against Blaming Upholstery) finding them offensive (such as implying that murderers might hide behind drapery “even though studies prove that most murderers hide behind couches”) till all that’s left is the line “What time is it?”

I‘ve mentioned the story in a couple other free speech threads, but I think it’s especially relevant here... if they’ve stopped all discussion of anime and manga, and they don’’t allow discussion of most comics or movies, and they’re clearly not allowed to discuss RPG’s... what do they actually talk about?

My mom (non-white) said that "caring about punctuality is a white thing" when I complained about her being 2 hours late. No, mom, it's a common courtesy thing because everyone is left waiting for your CPT ass when you can't get your ass to the meet-up at the agreed time.

Welp, whoever called it several pages back? Deadlands just got read the riot act.

Oh, and the infractions forum gets woker and woker. Hypothetical, academic justifications for slavery are now wrongthink rather than, y'know, a fantasy exercise like you might have to have if you were running a game like exalted or a historical game.

Traditional fantasy is problematic because of racial ability modifiers and evil races, weird west/wild west is problematic because of Indians and muh Confederate apologism, cyberpunk is problematic because it focuses too much on classism instead of racism. One day all genres of role-playing will be declared problematic and rpg.net will shut down, having finally achieved its true purpose.

I could see it happening in ten or fifteen years if the pendulum continues to swing.

Iron Man movies are capitalism/libertarian bootstraps propaganda, Captain America is an incel manifesto problematic American nationalism, Thor is toxic masculinity (and the Nazis loved Norse mythology), Dr Strange appropriates eastern culture. Hulk is, I dunno, male violence against women or something.

I think it may happen even sooner than that (assuming continued interest in the MCU for the next decade and a half, which I don't). I've already seen some of the shriller wackos screeching that it's all American military recruiting tools, like the old GI Joe cartoon. If you trawled through RPG.net enough, I'm sure you could find something similar.
