What's with the jannies of all these places claiming that people who post things they disagree with are trolling? (And indistinguishable from it at that!) The ones at ResetEra for example do the same exact thing. Is it really so hard for these people to fathom that someone might disagree with them legitimately rather than doing so simply to upset or trick people? It's one of the rules of progressivism. Progressive ideals are so obviously and uncontroversially good and the pursuit of said goals so inherently ennobling that there is no legitimate criticism or disagreement possible. Anyone who does must be a troll arguing in bad faith, because the only reason why anyone would disagree with the obviously good values is a malicious desire to harm the Good People.

The other half is the Activist's Fallacy:
We are doing X because Y.
You are opposed to X.
Therefore, you are opposed to Y.

However, Y is an unassailable position because it is so obviously good and the pursuit of Y is inherently ennobling. So anyone who objects to X is secretly opposed to Y, and therefore a Bad Person, and any arguments against X are dogwhistles for the anti-Y position, and not good faith arguments.

I thought it was some variant of "guilt by association?" or something. Like saying that the push towards green energy is good for the environment and anyone who says this specific counterpoint to it is an bigot solely because someone that we hate also holds on to these opinions.

Motte and bailey. I swear 99% of leftist arguments online these days are motte and bailey fallacies. To use your green energy example, if you don't completely support wind farms and solar panels then you're a shill for big oil who rolls coal in their lifted F-350 on your way to lobby congress to allow oil fracking in national parks.

Talking about doing something is one thing. Begging America to go do the exact shit the CIA does in countries like UK however I am sure is something they do.
