Can't they just reclaim the word? It's what black people did with nigger, right? What makes this one different?
I will never understand the logic behind "dogwhistles." Like, surely, if racists are using specific terms to identify each other, it's better to start using those terms more so racists don't know if they're talking to other racists or just random people, causing them to get frustrated and give up. If only racists are allowed to use those terms, isn't that exactly what they want?

Because leftists tend to be on the autistic side, and well...

If you hear all the dogwhistles doesn't that make you a dog?

The term “dogwhistle” is a way for people to simply impute vices you don’t actually hold onto you, to make it easier to dismiss criticism or just declare you to be a Secret Hitler. It's another rhetorical trick that SJWs thinks makes them win by default. "You used this word in your argument, which is a secret code word used only by bad people, therefore you are a bad person, therefore I am morally in the right and I win!"

If you were a good person, you would know that's a no-no word already and never use it. On the outside chance you're good at heart and merely didn't know until now, you would be groveling and begging for forgiveness, not trying to justify your use of no-no words.

Given how RPGNet operates as a quasi-dictatorship where dissent is suppressed by force, I'd say we're well on our way there.
RPG.net is not exactly a success story. And while I can only speak anecdotally those same tactics are not great for the industry. Evil Hat, Pinnacle, Wizards, Green Ronin and AEG are all companies I know people have stopped purchasing from because of their politics.

I'd put more money that the industry is on its ass or doing a u-turn in 40 years.

"Why are these career politicians acting like this is just another day at the office? Don't they know that democracy dies in darkness?"

An intelligent question is posed:

There were no replies to this post, naturally.

I don't see RPGNet's former owners as savvy operators who would think of grifting. From what I understand, Shannon Appelcline is your standard aging liberal goofball. The cryptobro who owns the site today would have taken advantage of an opportunity, but that's too late.

Hate to break it to you, pal, but the forum that would have viewed that post as an affectionate bit of nerdy humor is long gone. Adapt or die.

Man, how do you spend nearly a quarter century on a website and not wake up to how fucking terrible it's gotten?
