RPGnet Forums

Yeah, I did a review of it a while back, I've considered refining it and posting it here. There's some parts that are really cool like the techno-mages, but the main book itself has a lot of problems with easily breakable mechanics and spelling errors up the FUCKING ASS! I swear, the editor that's credited didn't do a day of work, or I got a very poorly done bootleg copy.

That said, I would totally have a game of witches versus nazis. That's just a concept that's so cool I can't help but love it, despite all the virtue-signal wanking that Replicant pointed out.

All I ever really see online is the odd splatbook with an easily-ignored paragraph saying "Gender works this way in Golarian" or some shit. I dunno, I know a lot of game devs act like powercucks now but I still haven't had a single issue with it.
The only time it ever really gets annoying is if it's something like MYFROG or Blue Rose, where the built-in setting as a whole is super fucking preachy and up its own ass. Something like 'this NPC is transgender' in Pathfinder is honestly a non-issue since you can just... write it out if it bugs you that much.

I found the transgender character found in Wrath of the Righteous to be a rather useless character as anyone could have taken over their role. So I just killed the character off and the players convinced the halfling to do the tranny's job instead. Seriously, that character being trans had no impact on the story or game at all. (Any time I play that campaign setting I tend to leave their crippled ass for the mongrelmen to eat.)

Of course since Amber gets write another Adventure Path it's safe to assume there will be another useless trans character ready to be killed off.

Does it tell you how long I've been tabletoping if my first thought is "what's her stat block, and why is she so useless?"

Well with Dragon Age Inquisition it's not like Frank had anything to do with Narration. He would have probably just removed it all together. I'm just hoping the next IP Bioware is working on wont have anymore PC bullshit, but I have my doubts with them. A lot of people who worked on Dragon Age and Star Wars The Old Republic left the company.

Also, I think it was just a way to shut up Amber. While the Adventure Path was great, her part in it was garbage. Same could be said about the angel book she worked on.

A thread where men try to explain the whys and wherefores of adjusting your balls devolves into typical gender/trans drama.

Remember eight years ago when people dissatisfied with the Republican party were saying the exact same thing? I do.

You know, it's been well over a decade since I read RPG.net regularly, not since the original World of Darkness was still a thing and, apparently, when Darren MacLennan not only hadn't gone full SJW but was a straight-up right winger, but looking over these batshit insane control freak threads makes me realize: all that's happened is the worst Dungeon Masters, GMs, Storytellers, whatever -- the ones who brooked absolutely no dissent in their games and who would throw epic tantrums if you ever outsmarted or contradicted them -- managed to get control of the forums.

White Wolf is a magnet for insufferable pricks. Satyros Brucato, Justin Achilli, and the current head honcho Martin Ericsson are chief among said insufferable pricks.

Zak Smith may be a dick at times, but he's mild-mannered compared to some of WW's more prominent writers and developers.

RPGnet is a cesspit and I prefer theRPGsite. Pundit may have issues of his own, but he at least tolerates differing opinions.
And there's also a lesser-known writer who can also be considered (let I still have some empathy for), Anna Kreider.

The micromanagement of that forum by the mods is just unreal. These people are absolute control freaks. I can't imagine any one would ever want to play RPG with such humourless dickheads.

I get the impression they're taking their frustration over recent political events out on making the forums a safe space. Perhaps unsurprising for people whose hobby is fantasy. The trouble is the wolf is at the door and turning
your forum in an sjw fiefdom only ensures a slow steady recruitment drive to the other team and low key resentment from people formally sympathetic to your cause.

On a different note Weirdly white wolfs flagship vtm game is really poorly suited to SJW stuff, the moderate factions in VTM view humanity as a resource and threat. The radical factions view us a plaything prey at best. At least 2 of the great clans engage in torture (often sexual) as part of their culture and any vampire with low humanity or path levels is so detached from us that it can't relate to us any more.
Simply put why would this horror

Give a single shit about safe spaces ?

That's the thing about sjws I have the most trouble understanding, how can they not realise or alternatively care that they are driving people who agree with them away when they insist on such a rigid manichean understanding of everything? It's baffling when it comes from the religious right, when it comes from the heirs to post modernism and moral relativism it downright insane.

Also regarding white wolf, I think they don't deserve all the flak they get, they're not as bad as their fanbase or haters make them appear. Like when demon came out, a hardcore antisjw friend of mine flipped out because it has a gender identity side panel in the intro. But if you read it, it basically says "demons aren't human. Some of them, the ones that spent time in human form before their fall particularly, will assume the gender of their first cover, and they will keep that gender even if they change covers to a different sex. Sometimes they don't care about it and just go with whatever gender their cover is. Sometimes they just don't associate with a gender at all because the concept is fundamentally alien to them." And I can't understand why anyone would have an issue with that, that sounds like good rping to me.

If you take a look at Meetup groups online, you'll see that SJW's taking those over as well. One dropped a cities RPG group from 451 down to 45 and all but killed the group. Another one sent this out

Hi,

I would like to add to the variety of things that this group offers. As such I have just finished banning the trouble makers I have met over the years of playing in various groups around Montreal. You will notice that there are 2 fewer people.

I do not put up with racists, misogynists, bigots, homophobes, or anyone else who will not treat others fairly, giving each person the benefit of the doubt, and with kindness. I do not like to be called "bitch" unless we are roleplaying ;) and you can only raise your hand to me if I ask for it. Now you know why some were banned.

I am a nonsense person, speak straight with me and I will do the same.

So in that vein, I want to personally do certain things with this group which it does not do now - these I will list on a page in the coming week.

BUT I want to keep this group rolling along as a focal place for games to be scheduled and players recruited for games. Be they any kind of games from board games TO roleplaying games TO card games TO whatever games.

AND If you are nice I may even consider my all leather and latex Vampire LARP (dare you try it)!

As a successful business woman I unfortunately do not have time to host events in person usually, these will be rare events indeed BUT I do want and encourage all those who want to run or organize games session to continue to do so or give it a try if you are a newbie. just let me know.

In this introduction email, I have some things I want to put out there:

I am taking interviews (by email of course) of anyone who would like to step up and host a session (once, twice, semi-regular, regular) of any kind of game.
Would any of you be interested in a separate area for blogs?
Would anyone be interested in the organizational aspect of a game convention, we have the sponsors and funds, just need the volunteers to organize it, interested anyone?
Those of you who are owners of local retail outlets (game oriented) please let me know as I want to foster game play and in those venues in a way to stimulate continued growth of your consumer base - in case no one knew - the retail game outlets are trying to survive in a world increasing going to computer games. We need to keep the brick and mortar store functioning.
Those of you who are the staff of Gamers Vault please let know you are here, I already know Mooseman.

Why would want to run a Meetup group like this other than a sense of control and to make sure we can only play RPG's with people only they agree with?

I think it's a lack of pragmatism inherent in the fanatical or the power hungry, to serve the ideal or rule your pile of dirt rather than application. Turning rpg forums into a SJW hugbox may enrage and alienate anyone but you've got control over your little dirt hill so that's all that matters. This is actually way more common than just SJW stuff, British politics is notorious for it on both sides at the moment. They don't seem to consider what happens when they've won only that they should win because they're in the right.

On reflection I agree it's the fanbase mostly, their is some SJW stuff but it's ultimately up the GM discretion, in fact their is no reason you can't have that shit in universe as long as you allow the players to make their own minds up about it. I recall we played with a 'gender fluid' guy who ran an tranny order of hermes plastic surgeon. Who then made an absolute killing social and fiscally as both a 'mob' doctor and as a genius cosmetic surgeon via her mastery of conventional medical procedures and magic. pretty much every pc owed her by the end....including my own guy who enjoyed a rapid recovery after having his hand on the wrong end of the clever. As well as considerable political clout for the same reasons.

And there's the thing. I don't mind stuff like the scenario you described in your campaign (Hell, I played a extremely volatile twi'lek lady smuggler who was so anti-human that she was on the tipping point of being blindly racist herself) but a lot of the so called social agenda stuff I see in rpg systems and forums/groups is framed as being 'the right and ONLY way' instead of just a possible interpretation and that's what bugs me the most.

There's nothing to RPG and play out if the GM is just going to decide what your characters should think or feel about a scenario/law/situation/etc. Maybe I'm just stubborn. I bloody hate being told what to feel/think by other people.

Well then, good news! The SJWs on the site--including mods--don't play RPGs anymore. They're more into full-time whining. The site is almost tolerable if you read it while logged out.

I find most tabletop SJWs don't actually play tabletop. They just browse communities for tabletop because they want a vehicle to circle jerk about identity politics in genre fiction.

Like all angst-ridden adolescents, their favorite pastime is sitting around and complaining about how nobody else gets how cool they are. Doing things is passé.
