RSS Can Save The Internet

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Sorry for the fat necro, I found a nifty little RSS reader called RSSGuard that I've been using for a few weeks. It's cross-platform and has binaries for windows and m*cs too(rssguard/rssguard-lite in arch repos). The full version has Qtwebengine bundled in it which is gay so you should download the lite version.
RSS Guard is great! After a bit of a setup it can even translate articles into your desired language using the translate-feed.py script it comes with. It makes me wonder why not more RSS readers attempt this, as it makes keeping up with websites written in different languages easier and you could quite easily keep track of different countries state media and emerging propaganda lines if you really wanted to. The translations sometimes are botched as fuck, but it's enough to get the general idea of the article.

Further necro, (I know, I know)
Feeddemon is still quite useable provided you change the settings to open links in your default browser. Feedstation also still works for automatically grabbing podcast enclosures. Neither one is maintained anymore but they are in fact maximum comfy.

I'm having trouble finding decent feeds that are not tech news related- All the major news sites seemed to have killed them, and even my local news sites have done away with their feeds. Shit's gay.

Maybe post in this thread if you have some decent sources?

NOAA has severe weather feeds per county in each US state:

Kiwifarms telegram feed for those who don't use telegram:

gHacks quality is going downhill as of late but they do indeed have very specific RSS feeds per article topic:

And for people who subject themselves to Hacker News there is an autistic amount of feeds to choose from:

Nitter.it has a link to an RSS feed of whatever Twitter account you want, type in a username and look at the upper right corner, but be aware that it grabs retweets and other twitter miscellany: https://nitter.it/
