Would have been more useful at a lower level like say, 34-40ish Archaeology so new players and fresh Ironman accounts could get their hands on it. Based on the level ranges given in the video, it could be a reward as late as 113. No new player wants to train to levels between 73-113 just to Ectofuntus their Summoning. It'd be easier to amass charms at 0-1 mechanic Arch Glacor.
Checked in with the old community that still plays RS3. The ironmen autists said it's dead on arrival even for irons since (like you said) it's infinitely easier to amass charms and materials these days, even for mid-level players.
For the most part I've liked the lore and what direction Jack has taken things even if he's in the same crop as them. Ending the world and stopping it has made the stakes all fucked up but I can appreciate the storylines they've done.
That being said the archaeology mysteries are a spot for basically short stories and if there's anything about two gay dragonkins fucking instead of lore about the weirdness of Daemonheim I'm gonna be pissed.
The story approaching the EGW was primarily written by Raven, but he was slowly sidelined for Zura who did the entirety of the civil war arc (and probably writes the slop they churn now). Without knowing all that, I'd regularly write paragraphs to my friend about the lore heading in a crap direction and not making any logical sense, week after week. It was only afterwards that I'd learnt about Raven's replacement from someone who'd contacted him privately to ask about what the fuck was going on. I believe he said Raven had no input on the main story from around Twilight of the Gods onwards, in favour of a junior mod (Zura).
The few 'lore' folks I've talked to about it privately were unanimously disgusted with the civil war arc. I don't know how you felt about it, but I will never forgive Jack for allowing Zura to take a fat shit all over the characters whose lore was established and appreciated by the larger part of the community over a decade ago.
The new digsite lore will be written by Rowley who (along with Jack) pulled a PR stunt retconning the characters from the Feud quest. I'm cautiously pessimistic with Jack at the helm. Chaose's a well known extreme liberal. And Kitsune's a shameless weeb. Not a good look. I predict a non-binary dragonkin, since they're familiar with the formula by now: pollute the lore slowly, just barely so it doesn't spark a massive outrage among the most casual players.
I'm immensely blackpilled when it comes to the lore :S
P.S. Raven's not above criticism either. His preferred strategy's to introduce LGBT and diversity without talking about it so it doesn't draw as much attention as an in-your-face faggot couple (friend sent me a screenshot of him saying this. I'd need a while to dig through my chats to find it). If he had any amount of say in the recent lore, that tranny at the fort would've been a they/them without the quest's newspost or the logbook thing from the quest mentioning it. An example of his work is Angof, who's only disclosed as a tranny when you hand in his husband's ring as part of the master quest cape req, which a very few number of players would encounter at the time. The quest introducing Angof never makes any mention or hints at it.
I forget if the gay bird discloses his gay lore unless you go through his chat options during Sliske's Endgame, or encounter him in the maze. Similar thing really.
