Rendering the Totem of Intimidation obsolete sadly. They should give it a new effect.
A dev commented on that and said that that came up in their discussions, but they decided that it was okay for the effect to be redundant since it gives players an alternate path to the benefit. So if for some reason a player isn't able to or doesn't want to clear the hurdle of bossing achievements, they can grind slayer monsters on Anachronia for the totem (since the other two parts are just given to you). And it's still useful until you do unlock the benefit from achievements, at which point you can free up that totem slot for something else.

Soulstones doubly devalued.
I don't understand why they wouldn't remove GWD2 entry kc altogether. Anyone that's done half the achievements would be well past that point. Edit: I misunderstood. It stacks with the existing 50%. mb

Liking the path choice for Rax and rotation for Rago. RotS choice is dumb. Easy as pie boss becomes even more stale.

They're giving more marks of War when there's still nothing to sink them into. Swimming in several hundreds of t3/4 aura and sign resets.

The general idea for the unlocks is to make it easier to do later achievements. If you do all the medium achievements (or equivalent), now you have access to GWD1 and 2 bosses without needing killcount, so you can do the hard mode achievements in the hard set without needing to grind mobs tediously. If you do all the hards, now you can choose rotation for Araxxi and RotS so you can tackle their elites. Do all the elites, and now you can choose Vorago rotation to help clean up anything left there, or help other players who are trying to get theirs done. The Barrows skip for the easy set seems more aimed at helping players going for the boss log since there aren't any tougher achievements there.

Even if killcount is pretty outdated as a concept, I'm fine with its removal being something that you work towards, especially since the barrier to entry isn't all that high. I'm not great at bossing, I typically struggle with anything I can't brute force, but I was still able to knock out the easy and medium achievements over the last day or so, as well as starting to make a dent on the hards. And since I already had GWD2 reps done, no more killcount for me. Yeah, the reps do take a while to grind to get rid of the other half of the killcount, but anyone serious about bossing will be working to get it done over time, and even if they haven't gotten that far yet, an easier path to reducing the grind by half is good.

Definitely going to have to start learning the intracacies of the combat system so I can tackle the tougher bosses though. I swear, some of this shit is so obtuse, and it doesn't help that RS is already weird to control. Looking at any guides feels like I'm reading an advanced physics textbook or something with all the abbreviations and flowcharts and such.

And yeah, another use for Marks of War would be good too.

It'd be cool if marks of war could be spent on component packs giving access to randomized invention components across the uncommon and rare rarities. People might say that it would devalue some older drops from older bosses but tossing your player decked with Scavenging 4 and a halberd at Dagannoths accomplishes the same thing: chances at free rare components. That's one interesting use I could think of.

I went back and found the bit I missed. Didn't realise it stacked to remove the kc req entirely. Oopsie

My issue with RotS specifically is that the rotation changes daily and most rotations are played out with the exact same strat. Perhaps I'm being a tad dejected because I'll miss rotations like ADK west for good. There weren't but a handful of players doing it pre-EoF, and post-EoF the average team was less hesitant to skip it. No team's going to want to pick a hard rotation.

I guess it will help with combat achievements... I'm finding it difficult to justify waiting ~3 weeks to do an achievement.

There's still incentive to play other rotations at Rax and Rago. RotS never had anything of the sort.

I would've liked to see them improve features of the PvM Hub with Marks of War.

They could have increased the adrenaline from crystals incrementally through Marks a bit like they did with the eternal bonfire instead of slapping it on T4 (for enabling pre-incend/dbaxe voodoo speed kill achievements). It'd achieve the same end result either way :/

I pulled up a Wazzy video to check on how the new combat achievements are like – I left, nauseated by his pride aura.

Any active players try them yet? Easy to elite looks alright. Could be a bit of a challenge for group challenges.

I've completed up through the mediums and done some of the hards, been busy so I haven't had a chance to do much more than that but I plan on getting back to it. It wasn't too much of a challenge, and the buffs unlocked so far have been nice. Looking ahead to the more challenging achievements, I'm going to have to start learning bosses I haven't done much or at all. Some of the speed kill achievements are also ridiculous, like killing the Magister in under 12 seconds. Watched a video on how to do it, it involves a lot of stacking and prep work before you do the actual kill, then spamming all your highest damage abilities as fast as possible. I imagine that's how a lot of the speed kills go at the highest levels.

Announcements for the year ahead sound interesting. New area is Havenhythe, located east of Morytania, involving vampires and First Age stuff that'll be developed over the course of 2026; it'll also include the 110 Hunter update and a new Archaeology digsite, as well as eventually a new boss encounter. It'll eventually lead into traveling to Vampyrium in 2027. The other big announcement is the introduction of Leagues to RS3 in the autumn, being built to tide us over now that Havenhythe has been bumped to early 2026. Other updates:
  • 110 Runecrafting (March 3)
  • Pharaoh's Folly (penultimate desert quest, April 7)
  • Blooming Burrow and duck-themed quest (April 14)
  • Invention update (runecrafting and thieving main-hands and new materials and skilling perks, May)
  • Masterwork and legendary weapon effect update (sometime around May)
  • 110 Crafting (June)
  • The Beach (June/July)
  • Eclipse of the Heart (desert quest finale, July 28 )
  • Amascut group boss (launching either with or shortly after the finale; loot includes T95 necromancy siphon and halberd-range melee weapon, as well as magic power armor)
  • New quest (after Eclipse of the Heart, new storyline)
  • Game health updates (a whole month of QoL fixes, sometime in the fall)
  • Combat update (no real specifics, but sometime in the fall)
  • Harvest Hollow and quest (October)
  • 110 Thieving (winter)
  • Christmas Village and quest (December)
Oh, and also confirmation that a new skill is being worked on, though nothing specific has been revealed outside of their taking inspiration from Archaeology and Necromancy. The player survey that'll be out soon will supposedly have questions about this, so you can give feedback on what you want to see.

Big fan of Invention updates. Augmented lockpick woo
New perks implies new Invention components. The optimist in me would like to see old items that disassemble for trash get fresh recycle value.

Jagex has a new CEO.

Yeah, they did say new components, I mistyped it as materials because I'm a dumdum who forgets proper terms sometimes. Unfortunate that this didn't come out before the 110 runecrafting update, but at least they'll have the thieving mainhand out long before its 110 update.

Speaking of the new update, I think it was a pretty good success overall. The process of making the new expansive pouch was pretty fun, outside of needing to grind a lot of magical thread for it. This of course was made worse by the fact that you only get decent droprate if you use the demonic skull, and there are quite a few PKers that are taking advantage of this to ruin your day. I did find a guide on the RS sub that made the process faster and safer, though:
The bare minimum requirements are access to the Abyss and Lunar Isle, as well as a wicked hood. You'll also want all the runecrafting pouches and the demonic skull. Helpful items include the ethereal outfit (infinity preferably, for various RC benefits), a ring of imbuing (for extra runes), the Wilderness sword (any level, for fast Edgeville teleports), a BoB/RC familiar (for extra essence storage), and the Nexus Mod and Pouch Protector relic powers (to get to the center of the Abyss faster and not have to deal with pouch maintenance).
  1. Before you begin, make sure you charge up your wicked hood with a lot of teleports. You can buy teleport tokens for 1500 Runespan points apiece, or you can be like me and have a bunch saved up because I don't do runecrafting much. You'll be using four or five teleports per run. Also, configure the Mage of Zamorak to teleport you on left click instead of talking to him. Put War's Retreat teleport and your wicked hood/ethereal head on an action bar with keybindings you can hit quickly, and configure the head's default interaction to "previous teleport" instead of "activate." Finally, use the hood to teleport to the astral altar once so it's ready for you to teleport.
  2. Summon your familiar (if using one), and create a preset with your gear (ethereal outfit, skull, sword, and ring only) and inventory (pouches and essence, essence in your familiar as well). You'll be using this for every run.
  3. Start in Edgeville and head up to the Abyss. To play it safer, use Anticipation just after you cross the wall to give yourself some stun protection, then surge and dive to get to the mage quickly. If you see a PKer, run back the other way since they'll probably teleblock you.
    1. If you die, you'll have to get your pouches, sword, ring, and skull back. The mage inside the Abyss will give you your small pouch back for free. Talk to Wizard Korvak in the RC guild to get your medium pouch back, and then trade him to buy a large and huge pouch from him. Massive pouches are bought for Runespan points outside the guild. Mr. Ex is the easiest NPC to buy your sword back from. You'll have to craft or buy another ring of imbuing if you're using those. The skull can be rebought from the Mage of Zamorak and will go to your bank, so it's safe to buy.
  4. From the Abyss, head to any altar. Doesn't matter which one; nature is closest to where you teleport in if you want the fastest runs, but you may want to stockpile some time runes since they're new.
  5. Craft your runes, then immediately teleport to War's. Load your preset, then immediately teleport to the astral altar and craft again. The abyss buff lasts for one minute after you first craft runes, so you'll still get extra XP and chances for magical thread every time you craft for that duration. You head to the astral altar because it's on the overworld, saving you a click and a loading screen. You can craft about four or five times in total if you're quick.
  6. Use your sword to tele to Edgeville, load your preset again, and repeat this process.
On average, I'd get one or two thread per cycle, which is still way faster than normal abyss runecrafting or using the runic attuner. The risk is fairly low, and even if you do get PK'd, it only takes a few minutes to collect your stuff again. Probably going to be a pretty good moneymaker for the time being, as threads have been selling for 3-4m apiece; I imagine it's starting to go down again, but it's still going to be some good money.
The nice part about the expansive pouch (outside of holding even more essence) is that it doesn't degrade, so you can stop using the Pouch Protector power once you unlock it. Don't really know what else you'd use instead, but it's nice not having to spend chronotes on swapping to it anymore. It's also not lost on death even if you get PK'd, making Abyss runs less annoying to recover from if you get ganked.

The process of making the masterwork staff was also just as lengthy as the previous weapons, and I'm glad I made the right predictions for what high-tier weapons it would require (two seismic weapons, two Cywir weapons, and two attuned crystal magic weapons). Bought the first two a few weeks ago, and I still had some attuned crystal seeds ready to go. Outside of hand-chiseling 3000 rune essence and making yet another glorious bar (though thankfully only one), the process was pretty simple and chill. I'll be interested to see what effects they give these masterwork weapons later this year.

150m is an impractical amount to save up till you've got some foothold in p2p. It used to be well easy when bonds were 10-20m/ea - high alch profit margins would do the job.

The OSRS thread guys covered the new CEO. CVC casino douchebag. The future is Yelps.

Found this retard while afking scorpions. I told him to watch an AFK guide.

"I'm an old school player who doesn't really care to learn all the new stuff" he said, with near max stats.

Why are some people so resistant to learning how to play the game? Manually clicking for each kill.
Magic Dragon Shield. Black Vambraces. Broken Primal Boots. 99 invention but nothing is augmented. With those stats it doesn't even make sense. Can't even be that big of a dopamine hit if some other guy (me) is killing all the others afking with an aggro potion.

Is this more common than I realize?

Fairly common, and has been since EoC.

There's a hundred-fold more hand-holding today than there was 5-10 years ago, so there's no helping him. Pvme trannies have done a lot to lure and educate newbies with their* guides.

Funny seeing him use EoC despite that stubbornness...

*off topic.
Pvme was built from the ground up by enthusiastic nerds, but some have been pushed out by woke freaks.

Scorpions? Is there a reason to afk those? Or are you talking about Corrupted Scorpions?

I log on.
I see this:

I log off.

I can't ever see degen tranny furries as anything but bluefolf eating literal shit anymore.

Small news about 110 crafting.
There's going to be a new ore: platinum - a level above gold. It'll have a new anklet jewellery for the feet slot.
High level crafting will adopt Daemonheim's flower -> cloth approach. New plantable flowers. Seeds from PvM. They're still figuring it out. Some craftable t90 magic armour concepts:

Those look well dapper.

Not too keen on Dragonwilds. I've been thoroughly disappointed by open-world games in the past decade, and I doubt Fagex can deliver on this any better.
Although, a couple of older Jmods may have been working on it so I'm not entirely pessimistic.

I've started playing RS3 again. Playing on my old ironman account as I know I'd lose interest re-trimming the main. Iron 2k total level. So far so good.

Anyone going through the easter egg hunt?

As for clue 1 I assumed it was death plateau but I can't find anything either.
Apparently it's daemonheim which I was looking at for a different clue. Northern room on the second floor.

"Graveyard of shadows" in the wilderness.

Clue 4... possibly the cursed wisps in the wilderness? Them being cursed I assume that means they are "devoid of the divine" edit: just realized those don't exist anymore.

Spellwisps near the wizard's tower.

I assume for clue 10:

Is actually the archaeology amphitheater that's in canifis, the saradomin everlight whatever it's called area but I'm not a members to check.
