The Gameplay is clunky but not truly bad, you're entitled to your opinion however. Was big in my classroom circa 2005 or so but even back then the graphics were absolute poo uncanny valley stuff so I stayed away.
Played it a bit around 2017 or so and while the game is a great aesthetic i'm not going to mince words, the gameplay is complete poo. It's one of the grindiest rpgs I've ever played and you just constantly click things like a rhesus monkey. It feels like some strange proto phone game.
Are all MMOs this bad? Vanilla WoW looks like an actual game although I refuse to give blizz any money so it's self host or bust.

And you are just objectively wrong. The community was gutted by 2009 so I'm wondering if that's just when you started or what. It was still very playable but Jagex was trying so hard to recover their money and when their playerbase never recovered their owners at the time had them add all sorts of really stupid shit that basically killed the game. For me, it was 2009/2011, before EoC, before RS3, the whole Dungeoneering thing was fun too and in my opinion, the music was the best.
I mean OSRS was fun to fuck around in for a short while, it all came back to me intuitively, it's just not the same for me...
>tfw you'll never go back to those simple days days playing Runescape in the evenings after school.
Doing that with an ultimate account was extremely painful. This still the OSRS thread? Got bored a couple weeks ago and bought some members.
One thing I’m really into is clearing roadblocks with Clue Scrolls so I don’t waste any. So because of that, my big goal is to do both “Mournings End” Quests for the first time in my life.
Damn that Coal Tar Purifier Machine in Rimmington. I’m stuck there on Part 1.
I think Rs3 could benefit from some extra lower level bosses with drops that bridge the gap between weapon and armor tiers (specifically levels 65, 75 and 85.) While I think the idea slaying Zamorak is cool, I don't think the game necessarily needs every update pushing the envelope on difficulty. Make some cool bosses, and by extension, cool boss pets and titles, and no one will complain about having extra drop logs to complete.OSRS is getting Pride parades and perpetual group Ironman fixes instead of content while RS3 gets bosses, quests, a grounded story by kicking the gods out, and an updated Wilderness. OSRS never had the output of content RS3 does but most of it had quality. Now it's getting neither. Most new things being added have to be tweaked for months and even then the devs aren't allowed to break the sweaty player's metas so they'll always be inferior to shit people mastered years ago.
RS3's biggest problem is bloat and the shitty cosmetics. The latter is manageable; you can transmog yourself so while some people always look dumb you can always look the way you want. The former will serve as a nearly impassable wall for OSRS players who might be curious. Jagex should streamline some of the stuff and maybe instead of unsubbing when they're bored OSRS players will feel inclined to take the leap to RS3.
It's sad to me because I do like OSRS's
aesthetic over RS3's but the OSRS devs are trapped by their playerbase which is shackling progression.
RS3 is a shitty Chinese MMO nowadays. Play OSRS.So, necro post here, but I wanted to know: how's Runescape doing these days? I've been wanting to pick the franchise - either RS3 or OSRS - back up, but I've been out of the loop for quite some time; since 2013, actually.
So, what's changed? As mentioned above, RS started shoving fag shit into the game, but... how pozzed is the game these days, really? There is something I read about one of the gods being made gay, so that's a thing, but how is the overall rest of the game doing in general?
While I haven't played a huge amount of OSRS, from a casual's perspective, Old school is still the same at its core but with a substantial upgrade to the late game content. As a solo player, the experience feels mostly the same as it did then. As for modern runescape, well...So, necro post here, but I wanted to know: how's Runescape doing these days? Ironman mode doesn't get access to those pay to win mechanics (Treasure Hunter). If anyone is considering playing Runescape 3, I suggest doing so as an Ironman and bragging like a pretentious fuck to non Iron accounts about how much better you are than them for acquiring what you own without the aid of microtransactions.pay2win model
It was pretty damn bad when Evolution of Combat first dropped. Combat was more gear centric and the differences in power between weapon tiers were initially massive. Over time, there have been added skills, passives, consumables and patches that bridged the gaps between weapon tiers making it easier to take on harder content with lower quality equipment. It could still use a little more work but Evolution of Combat isn't bad at all anymore. Anyone crying about it hasn't tried it again since EOC first dropped. This might be an unpopular opinion but I don't think evolution of combat is that bad.
It's important to note that you can always play both with the same account. It doesn't require two separate memberships or accounts.I've been wanting to pick the franchise - either RS3 or OSRS

I'll be honest, I've forgotten about ironman mode. It's certainly the better option but it's not enough to warrant overlooking everything else I outlined.Ironman mode
I also played for the lore content. I even had the quest cape at some point years ago. There was a period between post EOC to 2016 where quests actually peaked in both story and content (my favorite being the Zaros and vampire quests). The low effort woke stuff only started taking root around the end of the 2010's. The god lore has been covered pretty extensively (except for Armadyl, he got cucked in the polls). If you're passionate about that, it might be worth revisiting the old quests you missed. Sadly, some of the quest finales released after that era tend to be pretty rushed and disappointing. The lore/story... oof, I admit, I was honestly seriously invested in the writing way back when, so hearing how the wokeshit ended up destroying yet another old favorite of mine... damn. Doesn't help that Armadyl was my favorite, either...
