Rutgers University now requires incoming freshmen to pay to attend a “Language Matters” workshop during orientation, in which they will learn about “microaggressions,” Campus Reform reports.

A presentation on the topic titled, “Microaggressions: The big impact of 'the little things,'” can be viewed on the New Jersey school's Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities website.

Some videos in the presentation are “What kind of Asian are you?” and “Think before you speak: That's so gay PSA.”

Rutgers has defended the move, claiming that the $175 program is not “making a big deal out of nothing” because “it goes deeper than just words.”

Students who feel that they have been on the receiving end of a “microaggression” are encouraged to file a report with the school's Bias Incident Response Team.

Campus Reform also reports that there have been a handful of posters installed around campus warning students that they should choose their words carefully, emphasizing that phrases such as “undocumented citizen” are preferable to “illegal alien,” for instance.

All hope is lost for American universities, isn't it?

So wait. They're specifically forcing Asians to pay $175 because of their race and watch videos about how their race is evil?

It's really hard to think of analogies for this.

I mean without just saying fuck Godwin's Law and let's just do this.

That sign was completely not shopped, too.

Also "What kind of Asian are you?" Damn they're really eager to extort the rich Japs in favor of the chinks from the rape of Nanking that the Japs refuse to admit even happened.

Any Japs subjected to this bullshit should revoke their admission and sue Rutgers for mirrions of dorrars.

Rutgers hired Professor Kevin Allred to fabricate a "course" called Beyoncé Studies. What do you expect?

And that video is shit: dumb strawmanly white male and rude, ugly Kook chick deliberately missing the point. Any student who has paid money to see that should realize that the"school" is going to gouge them even harder down the road.

(And that chick is really ugly as Kooks go; I'd have guessed Vietnamese.)

The University of Chicago is telling their freshmen "Our commitment to academic freedom means that we do not support so-called “trigger warnings,” we do not cancel invited speakers because their topics might prove controversial, and we do not condone the creation of intellectual “safe spaces” where individuals can retreat from ideas and perspectives at odds with their own."

American academia might not be totally screwed, we just need to keep a master list of which colleges are glorified daycares and which are actually producing adults.

I very much suspect that lot of this is some sort of training materials producer getting relatively rich. "Mandatory" workshops and training (which is really the crux of the butthurt at both Evergreen and Duke Divinity, and that's just off the top of my head) is never free. Like literally everything else, odds are that you can follow the reeducation camp money. The super odd part is the faith in these classes. If you look at the testimonials, these classes are 'life changing.' You know... like a cult. When researched though, they often actually just backfire, and make people more racist.

95% of the time anyone asks my boyfriend what kind of Asian he is, it's another Asian person.
They are really blunt about it too, none of that "where are your parents from originally?" pussyfooting. Just "ARE YOU CHINESE OR JAPANESE? WAS IT YOUR MOM OR DAD?"
I thought Asians would be able to tell each other apart, especially considering how much they hate each other.

And the media wonders why nobody thinks they are credible, if this is where half of their recruiting pipeline leads... with the other half being Tumblr...... and we've seen how the SJWs will broaden the definition of "microaggression" to eventually encompass any differing opinion, no matter how benignly stated, being a violent attack on them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This type of shit is not going to make disadvantaged groups more likely to attend college, or make them more successful... these kids aren't fucking stupid. Many of them work full time jobs in addition to being full time students... They know when they're being patronized to. Many of these kids have seen truly heinous things.

One student watched his brother get gunned down by gangbangers, another found his dad dead with a needle in his arm... both of these kids were going to college, both of these kids were part of disadvantaged groups... you honestly think they're gonna respond to this kind of horseshit?

*hint* People know when they're being used as a fashion statement

I wonder what a course for teaching low-income students of any race how to pretend to be middle to upper middle class would look like? "How to somehow finagle free orthodontia and wisdom tooth removal." "All the books your shitty, underfunded high school should have told you to read." "How to perform offense on behalf of others." "How to plausibly convince others that your parents are actually lawyers."

And a video where a bunch of troons school you on misgendering

There are only two sets of pronouns though.:\

I love the checklist. It assumes every white student is from lily white suburbanland and has never met a non-white person who wasn't doing the garden or cleaning the pool. It's in brainwashese and I think it's totally unnecessary to talk to college students like they are too dumb to respect others. They're still acting as if it's totally normal to see as many trans people as everybody else. It's not. Most don't pass and a lot of people just try to gender them correctly out of politeness. But I'll be damned if I'm calling someone something other than he or she.

This is a waste of student time and money. They're supposed to be preparing for the workforce not preparing how not to hurt feelings.

Besides, once you've successfully trained them, the victim culture just spawns new ways to get hurt, requiring retraining.....

Once it became taboo to use racial slurs, just being white and not "checking your privilege" was the new racism.
