i think they're big enough to warrant their own thread
what's your favorite album/song/era? do you think they try too hard? do you think they're too mainstream? do you think they try too hard?

listening to Legends now, it's ok but the lyrics are really mediocre, the melodies seems very generic and it just doesn't seem to hit as hard as previous albums. i think they peaked with The Last Stand and i'm still waiting for them to come out with something better than it. some of their singles have been good (Bismarck is great) but as a whole i think they're on the decline which is really sad to think about.
also i was going to see them recently but they postponed their north america tour because par has some weird arm thing going on, hope he gets better.

I listened to some of Legends and you're right, it just doesn't hit like their older stuff did.

But you can chart their decline by how little hair Joakim has left. Dude is almost entirely bald but is still trying to keep his weird hair-do going.

Their early stuff is easily the best, The Great War, The War to End all Wars, and everything after outside of specific singles has been weak. Still keep a few of their tracks on rotation depending on what I'm doing.

I read a /pol/ thread once about what the most whitestestest man music is. Sabaton was brought up because it's power metal music by white men from Sweden, but some users complained that they are obviously 100% talmudic rabbi-pilled Jews because they played in Israel and posed with their flag lol.

I wonder how those people feel now that fringe geopolitics have inexplicably transformed into the battle of The Gay Jihadis vs The Nazi Jews.

Their songs are hit and miss for me, but when they hit they really hit hard. I actually do not like Bismarck but I do like The Duelist.

I also love it when fans turn historical movies into music videos, like this:

last stand and primo victoria are some of my favorite albums. I feel like they fell into the powerwolf trap, and everything sounds identical. not always a bad thing but in this case it is imo. I still hold them up as iconic power metal, along the likes of dragonforce and helloween

my favorite sabaton song:

I think they're good. I'd agree with Last Stand being their peak, but they always put out a couple of songs I like with each album, so I still check out their new stuff. For example, I enjoyed Lady of the Dark, Soldier of Heaven, and Templars.

They're not revolutionary, but I can't help but feel pumped hearing some Swedish dude yelling, "In the name of God!".

I prefer their earlier albums, there are a lot of good songs to be found across Primo Victoria up to Coat of Arms. Carolus Rex is their magnum opus, it was their peak of songwriting in combination with a concept album sung in Swedish. After that, every album just got worse and worse. Heroes and Last Stand still have a couple of good songs, but they were already running out of ideas. Legends just sounds like a bad parody and is an abysmal record.

ok i've listened to templars a bit more and it's growing on me. i love when bands do songs that are supposed to be ironic/tongue-in-cheek but still kick ass and can be easily coopted by the people they're criticising.
they finally got their US tour rescheduled last week, everything has now been pushed back about six months or so. sucks that i lost my hotel reservation but it's probably my fault for being a jew and not paying the extra $30 for the full refund option.

For Whom the Bell Tolls
Can't do a better cover then Metallica, mean that at best they are second rate. I don't dislike their music, but I keep coming back to For Whom the Bell Tolls, and Metallica does it better, and that to me is an acid test. If you can't play better or as good as Metallica, then it a sign of being at best second rate. There are a lot of bands who play a song better then Metalllica can.
