Amusing in retrospect that a literal bunch of milquetoast politically correct types try to make a crime game and utterly fail in every respect
releasing the reboot in the way they did was the actual crime.

I think the best part of all of this is that there’s barely anyone talking about this anywhere. When I look on videos talking about how Volition is more or less dead, all I see are videos that can’t even scrape 1000 views.

The only video I can find discussing this with any substantial view count is this one here:

They’re not just dying out disgraced, they’re dying disgraced and forgotten. It’s a tragedy, especially since they’ve created my favorite crime sim of all time, but it’s absolutely fucking deserved.

a game so bad it killed the entire fucking studio lmao, good fucking riddance
Now now, let's not be too hasty here

...Agents of Mayhem most definitely also helped with this.

Watch these assholes point to this as a reason you can't try anything new in AAA development and miss the point entirely.

They shouldve died after agents of mayhem tbh, the fact they were given a second chance was a stroke of luck

Apparently any decent dev also had a stroke and died and this is what we got. So RIP in piss at gearb-
Wait they moved to gearbox? That's fucking funny, aren't they also sinking?

Yeah, Gearbox has been awful for a while and it's a wonder they're still going. They funneled tons and tons of money into Battleborn only to have that completely flop, and Borderlands 3 got poor reviews. Randy Pitchford, the CEO, even has a lolcow thread here: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/randy-pitchford-duvalmagic.27834/ featuring stories about him physically assaulting the voice actor for Claptrap and losing a USB drive with internal company documents and also squirt porn at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

you forgot to mention their newest borderlands game New tales from the borderlands has also been disaster got horrible reviews not sure about the sales. So having gearbox and volition together seems perfect for them

Well now knowing this makes me think Embracer is gathering up all the dead wood in one pile in preparation for a divesture...

It's been released!?
Wow, completely missed that
Felt like I saw the trailer recently and that seemed more like a bad joke instead of an official game announcement

Saints Row died for these characters:

I hope they suffer under Volition.

Pretty funny when you consider that Borderlands is also a mega-woke product, complete with fags, dykes, trannies, pronoun shit and an overarching story that revolves around special women being godlike.

After 3, I was never going to check out Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, but I kinda hope that shit's dead. Best that companies learn that pandering and shirking your core audience only leads to financial ruin.

This still really stings, I know Volition was dead anyway and in name only, but still, to have it now be official...

You know things have reached the bottom of the barrel when even Volition has died.

Volition used to be one of my favorite devs because of their straightforward approach to fun and this really is a perfect example of just how shitty things have gotten.

They're not "dead," Gearbox just absorbed them. With the reboot's direction, would you even tell? The next Borderlands will have similar writing.

I mean sure, Volition isn't dead according to the media (and especially Gearbox), but it is to us.

And also, must I remind you that Gearbox is also a Take-Two company and is also a very shit company in general, and you know what else Take-Two owns? Rockstar, and they are responsible for the GTA games. So, IF there's a chance, we might see a GTA/Saints Row crossover we will never hope for.

Volition could have tried to make a game SR fans loved and gone out of business, as maybe the market no longer exists for such a game. That was always possible, if unlikely. Instead they stuck to their "dude crime is exactly like a startup, anyone want a mugmosa lol #bigtechproblems" vision and not only did they end up in dev jail, they attracted the attention of the the most fucked up molester on their cellblock. They've suffered a fate worse than death: working for Randy Pitchford
