ffs at that point get a fucking blog

I assume the one for SR2 idolninja was working on to fix CDPR's (yes, that CDPR) shitty port and volition conveniently forgot about after he died.
GOTR helps but proper fixes a mod can't touch would still be preferable.

I tried that one but it kept freezing whenever I'd get into a car. Any fixes for that?

fwiw it belongs to embracer now. otoh it's published by deep silver, which makes it below EA tier.

they revived franchises before, I assume it depends on how hard the game cratered and how much interest they think there is, the franchise being a GTA clone doesn't make a new game exactly cheap to produce - so even if there is interest it might just not be feasible. which is a shame since GTA is going more and more the "no fun allowed" route (both in and outside the game), a clone that doesn't take itself too seriously with proper writing and not being a technical mess would probably sell quite well...
Well Embracer owns Deep Silver, it seems like their subsidiaries are just wildly different. Compare this to the SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom remake that came out last year, that game was also a former THQ property owned by Embracer, but unlike Saints Row you could really tell how much love they put into that game.

You know, watching this thing its plot could have actually been really enjoyable if they'd leant into the hypocrisy and disconnect between the Saints' goals and their actions. So far I've seen:

They rob a payday loan company to make rent, as it's a "victimless crime". Dozens, if not hundreds, of cops are killed in the ensuing chase.

A big rant about wage slavery and CEOs making seven figures off the back of the working class...then two scenes later they're justifying why, as leaders, they get a cut out of the rest of the gang's activities.

This constant talk about exorting "the big companies", usual talking points about insurance protecting the city from the worst of their activities...except this is being said when they're just doing the company's dirty work for them (dumping toxic waste on behalf of a corporation, when you explicitly steal it from their convoys as a form of deniability, then turning around and blackmailing the company is presented as a flawless and genius plan), they're pushing narcotics, and have gun running as a major source of income.

See, I think is what has pissed me off the most. It has so much potential to be really dark satire on an "empowered" gangster life, but just bluntly ignores it's own world and events within it to try and maintain a moral highground. When the OG Saints were accused of being passives who sold out it was a turning point that haunted the accused for the rest of the game; here it'd be a fucking selling point.

Something similar happened just a few weeks ago with the new return to Monkey Island game. Some Monkey fans disliked the new art style and instead of just ignoring it like an adult the voice actor for Guybrush inadvertently called them "retro fascists" on twitter. Imagine calling people a fascist because they don't like your garbage looking game.
The good taste in gaming to fascist pipeline. It's awaiting the standard NYTimes expose.

When Nietzsche and Thomas Mann bitched about how political everything would become and defended the existence of 'the non-political man' I think this is what they were getting at. Art doesn’t only suffer, so does criticism. It's not hard to claim (as poorly as it is) liking anything in the past hints at fascism. It's not smart but dumbasses will flock to it like its a profound point.

A big issue is that "political" is a cudgel that's never fucking defined.

I remember a Division 2 developer getting frustrated during an interview because of this. The journalist kept demanding him to commit to the idea of the game being political, but never actually explained what that would entail (of course, as with all these things it turned out to be dealing with the alt right, Trump and anti-vaxers). To the devs credit he simply repeated that the game wasn't overly supporting one specific viewpoint, as the game is ultimately about shooting people for their items, but it was never enough.

Just want to say that playing Saints Row: The Third for over four hours straight during this past week made me really dislike the new Saints Row. It was like I was playing a different game that made it okay to actually have fun for once.

Deep Silver is one lost company.
See this is why I take the piss out of people who go "X is actually okay".

I actually believe that they only say that sort of stuff because they've not gone back and looked at the past and found better examples of the thing they let slide.

3 is one of the funner entries in the game, and my favorite to play because 2 will never be patched for the PC and I do not have a 360 and copies of it.

Gentlemen of the Row makes it run fine. My main issue is that gameplay and control wise, 2 feels a bit dated. You get used to it and it feels fine rather quick, though.

Gentlemen still doesn't resolve some of the crashes the game is prone to, especially for the Steam version I have.

Cue the Paul Joseph Watson meme.

Double post, but Flippy released a video about Agents of Mayhem's cut content now that his NDA is expired. Things like a full modding suite that included the dev tools that was cut, how Volition lied to Deep Silver and regularly said the game was further along in development than it actually was, and Deep Silver mandating bizarre unrealistic things like making rocks look as good as the rocks Ubisoft makes. He also confirmed what I suspected for a while: that there was originally 3 cities: Seoul, Moscow, and Dubai.

Mrsaintsgodzilla21 said he'll do the same with Saints Row 2022 once his NDA expires.

>fixing and improving bugs and glitches in the game
>not fixing the story or adding any new content
>still seriously proud of the game you made

In this case, I think the comments section speaks for itself:

Imagine looking at your cratering sales and universal rejection even from people you hoped agreed with you, and then still refuse to just accept no one liked your shitty self-inserts. Imagine being that delusional.
