A group of true fans are redubbing the cutscenes and, I think, uploading them to YouTube (they said a mod for the game that replaced the existing dialogue with this "would be cool", implying they don't have plans for it).

They redid the famous waffle maker scene, and they somehow gave the main characters chemistry and made them likable.

Because if so holy shit. They put in the new niggertranny flag then faked an impossible lighting condition to make the inset of the flag dark, because you can't just put that in your game - it's copyrighted to prevent commercial use.

Christ, do you know who was Voliton's community manager until 2021? Mike Watson, AKA IdolNinja. So after Mike stepped down as his cancer was getting to him, Volition instead placed this schmuck in that position. They've replaced a guy who was basically a community titan and who was a true fan of the series and who was leading the efforts to give Saints Row 2 a proper PC port with some dipshit that despises the old fanbase and actively insults it. Volition is basically stabbing themselves in the stomach repeatedly with this shit.

God I remember IdolNinja from my Saints Row modding days, guy was an icon. And now they've gone and killed the whole franchise, I seriously doubt we'll see another Saints Row game again. It always goes "Make IP woke to milk existing fanbase"->"Fanbase doesn't like crappy woke game"->"Well I guess this series isn't that popular"->kills series

Jesus Christ, the fact that Volition could have just slightly reimagined the very pronounced lead characters of SR1 [cautious Troy, trying-to-prove-something Lin, mastermind Dex, volatile Gat, and cool, calm, collected Julius] and swapped a few identities[make Julius a Julia or something because paying Keith David isn't in the budget or make Gat a trigger-happy tomboy] and rebranded it to make the message "when life gets hard, a man must choose between doing what's right and what gets you paid" and they would have been fine. Keep Stillwater and The Row, make the old church just the spot they hang out and have the plot build up the gang-related actions until someone comedically has to stop and say "wait, are we bad guys now?" before plunging knee-deep into the wholesale murder.
Not to sound like a run-of-the-mill SR2 fanboy who couldn't even install GOTR, but SR2 did a damn good job of letting you revel in the fact that you were a morally dubious badass.

Some Monkey fans disliked the new art style and instead of just ignoring it like an adult the voice actor for Guybrush inadvertently called them "retro fascists" on twitter. I can't wait for Volition to chimp out and force them to stop editing their magnum opus, because it's pretty clear that they are completely delusional about the characters they made. They clearly see them as perfect given that they did see the fan reaction and casual reaction and discounted it completely.

As for the dub; they aren't the greatest acting wise and some of the lines are muddied, but they have a pretty good script writer. It actually made these fuckers likeable.

I assume the one for SR2 idolninja was working on to fix CDPR's (yes, that CDPR) shitty port and volition conveniently forgot about after he died.
GOTR helps but proper fixes a mod can't touch would still be preferable.

fwiw it belongs to embracer now. otoh it's published by deep silver, which makes it below EA tier.

they revived franchises before, I assume it depends on how hard the game cratered and how much interest they think there is, the franchise being a GTA clone doesn't make a new game exactly cheap to produce - so even if there is interest it might just not be feasible. which is a shame since GTA is going more and more the "no fun allowed" route (both in and outside the game), a clone that doesn't take itself too seriously with proper writing and not being a technical mess would probably sell quite well...

Yeah, it sounds kinda like a Discord conversation, which is funny because it's entirely possible they recorded it over Discord.

I don't expect pro-level voice acting, production values, or writing from this since it's a no budget fan project, so them making me laugh and like the characters is enough, especially when the actual game failed to do either.
