Even from the original pitch, it doesn’t sound like Saints Row. The desert city looks and sounds boring to be in. I like the proclamation gimmick where you could, essentially, add modifiers in your open world through progression.

I think they would’ve been better off redoing a prequel to the original Saints Row.
They should've just undone the 3rd and 4th games and made a proper sequel to Saint's Row 2. The lol so random, wacky comedic angle of the series was always going to end poorly compared to the crime period piece, which could have new gangs introduced, old ones reintroduced and possobly revamped, connections (personal and busniess) being forged and broken and acting as a good way to motivate the story of revenge the first game's ending set up with conspiracies and what not with a light touch of comedy.

People blame wokeshit and while that is a problem in vidya atm, the biggest problem is the lack of concern execs have for their IP and making it into something that has staying power. Saints Row easily could've rivalled GTA had Volition played their cards right. It had the right mix of interesting gameplay, good story and relatable and memorable characters to fill the niche Rockstar left taking a decade and then some to make another GTA game. Instead, it became a series about shitty Internet memes from the early to mid 2010s no one remembers or cares about. That would've been great for a side game, but it has no place in the main story.

Funny thing about that, the British Voice is Charles Shaughnessy, also known as Maxwell Sheffield from the Nanny. Recognizing his voice immediately the first time I played made it impossible to take the Boss seriously.
That's what made him my favorite Boss.

Ain't trusting shit until the game's out. You cunts did the same bait and switch for 2022 by pretending it was more like them, using and shilling the old games as cover until the trailer ruined that masquerade.

Only thing that could work would be a return to being a simple gangster while the real boss calls the shots like the first game, but with either a young Julius or Ben King. That's really the only thing that could work for a prequel, anything else would just further fuck over the lore via retcons than it already is.

All of the ingredients are there from bits and pieces of the lore. Make the game about Ben King assembling the Vice Kings to fight the rising threat of the Los Carnales. Julius will be an initial lieutenant, kind of a parallel to Warren from the first game in that he’s super obsessed with control over the city (while Ben is primarily interested in keeping peace in Sunnyvale) and trying to get into drug dealing (note how he’s more than happy to work with the Colombians in the first game). In addition to that Julius is romantically involved with Ben King’s sister, Angela, and while Ben is trying to protect her from their lifestyle Julius is trying to encourage her to participate in gang activities, but this all backfires when Julius royally fucks up and gets her killed in a brutal way much like how Carlos dies in SR2. After seeing Angela dead, Ben snaps and forces Julius out, and he runs off to Saints Row. Ben has control over the majority of the city, but he sits and wonders whether all of it was with it.

If this game actually makes it out of the pre production phase and doesn’t follow a storyline similar to this, I will be pissed.

Pitches can be canceled mid-production. I'd like to be hopeful, but after the last SR reboot, I take it some executive would either change course or bag it altogether. It sounds like they want to go the Mafia: The Old Country route but doing a prequel that wouldn't negatively affect existing lore and save money on licensing music to see if interest is still around for Saints Row.

Wasn't that the original idea for Saints Row 2 or 3? Oh, and you forgot about Dex. Would that mean this supposed prequel would make the reboot AND IV non canon?

So, it was primarily THQ Nordic that was responsible for this mess rather than Volition or Embracer, huh? THQ should've stayed dead.
THQ and THQ Nordic are nowhere near the same company.
THQ went dead because they believed in undeserving devs too much. THQ Nordic would holocaust an entire studio to make a quarterly revenue.

Consoles have nothing to do with “memory limitations,” it’s poor optimization of their engine work.
Yes they do. You can't expect a PC game that expects 4GB of RAM to perform optimally to run as well on a system with 512MB.
And that's without mentioning CPU limitations.
It's not hard to understand. If consoles had nothing to do with memory limitations, we'd still be playing on PlayStation 2s.

And by the way, good optimization is the full utilization of available resources at optimal levels, but there's only so much good optimization can make up for vs raw power.
Max Payne 3 is a brilliantly optimized game, yet you will never play it @4K/120FPS on a GTX 970 or earlier due to, guess what, VRAM limitations.

Edit: someone had already explained this, but saying memory limitations have nothing to do with consoles is frankly stupid I had to say something.

If it isn't called 'Bling Bling" and set in 2001 I will riot.

Name a game series fanbase that went through more pain.
Duke Nukem, Team Fortress, Conker's Bad Fur Day, etc

Volition really is the Lowtax of the game industry. Look, we're at the "XENFORO IS COMING YOU GUYS IT'S GONNA FIX EVERYTHING" phase!

Volition is fucking dead so who would make it? Gearbox? Fuck off
you know it, i know it, embracer knows it, fagbox knows it, saints row fans know it.
SR is extremely fucked at this point, i stand by what i said that gearbox is the limbo of game developers, all the shit ones will congregate there and make mediocre products for the line to go up.
