I have a single major complaint.

The male voices are limited to black, vaguely Mexican, and British.
My friend playing SR2 for the first time complained about this as well; his words: "I can only pick ghetto, Mexican ghetto, and British ghetto, I hate all of them" (He picked British ghetto in the end)

British ghetto is a fun choice, and its what I picked the first time too.

To clarify, the limited voices are not my major complaint, my major complaint is how much navigating the menus with Keyboard and Mouse sucks.

I understand, I had the same issue when I played on PC a few years ago.

I also picked British ghetto as well, and had I think it was Gentlemen of the Row installed, which allowed you to do more extreme character customization. I turned the Boss into a freakish abomination; a 4'8 all black burn victim looking alien bastard who looked liked he crawled out of the devil's asshole. That one early cutscene where the Boss whacks the dude in the bar with the bottle had him barely sitting up right at the bar and was magically floating the bottle towards that retards head. This game was so fucking peak and I'll never forgive Volition for not giving me another wigger 2000's gangsta simulator.

Shooting niggers while driving a full sized SUV (over their cadavers) and blasting 80's pop music is my God given right as an American.

British/Aussie ghetto was the male fan favorite at release and for the first early years as well. I think it's why it's the only voice actor who returned in SRtT.
I picked female voice 1 aka mystery meat voice because I found her to be the most enjoyable one who sang along with the radio.

🎵Everyybooodddyyyy waants to rule the woooooorrrllldd.🎵

He didn't return, they never asked Charles Shaugnessy to be the Boss in 3, they replaced him with Robin Atkin Downes, which was a step down. The returning VAs were latina Boss and black Boss.

The alt rock station was pretty nice, too. "Teenagers" is a perfect fit for this sort of game.

I'm glad the series is dead now, played every one since 2 minus the remake but at least the most they can do with it now is rerelease the older ones and they'd probably be kept mostly intact, even back in the day people were praising sr2 for having a gender slider and not a binary option

It should have ended with 4 and I think even they knew that the hell standalone dlc they released for it was like 4 hours at most you could tell they were running out of ideas

There will never be an open world crime sandbox as good as sr2 again and I'm ok with that I just want an actually functional pc release

Only on Gen X.

Huh, you're right. Coulda sworn he did.
Shame. Best male boss by far.
Yeah, it took me a while to twig onto the fact that they got a different VA for him. I think around the time you bust Shaundi out of the STAG aircraft carrier was when I finally realized. He was my favorite Boss too.

At this point, the Juiced patch basically does just that and from what I can tell, it's both A: more stable than Gentlemen of the Row and B: changes far less about the game aesthetically and mechanically. It also seems like Xbox 360 emulation has gotten good enough that you could feasibly emulate it without too many problems.

In reality:
a) GotR didn't do much in terms of stability as the little fixes that it did have relied on patching the game files, while Juiced acts on the game executable itself. Think SilentPatch and Proper Fixes for GTA:SA. SilentPatch modifies the game's memory addresses to correct hardcoded issues while Proper Fixes modifies game assets to fix and improve various models, textures, collisions and whatnot.
b) Juiced does a whole bunch of changes to mechanics and graphics, but they are all faithful to the original game, much like FusionFix 4.0 for GTA IV. The changes done by GotR were mainly IdolNinja & Co doing their own additions, acting like a community DLC for SR2 where you were able to do more fun and wacky shit.

And yes, Xenia Canary lets you play X360 versions of SR1 and SR2 from start to finish with zero issues. There is also the Mousehook fork that gives you KB+M controls that all things considered work really well, but do keep in mind that both will look and partially run like shit due to Xenia having massive issues when it comes to graphics emulation.

this shit is legit going to be unplayable

It runs pretty damn well nowadays, but you're still limited to the internal 1280x720 rendering resolution and FSR1 which looks like shit. 2x resolution scaling in Xenia is hot shit and with SR1 you get a ton of seizure inducing flickering.
If you have a japanese copy, the flickering issues are fixed when upscaling. I get between 65-137 fps at 4k(3x3 res) on a 9950x, tuned ddr 6200 cl 30, and a 5090.

last time I launched SR1 on Xenia, I got a freeze a few minutes in :(

All this talk about emulating Saints Row on PC, meanwhile I could play it effortlessly on my Xbox AND have a physical copy to awe in my collection.
