It seems like Sam tried to put real effort, money and humor into this, and while you could say that it was ill intent, it was supposed to make a shitton of money for all of them, and there wasnt really any malicious stuff going on. Honestly it was enough fun that I am considering paying for MDE's content... although I'll only watch it while drunk or while lifting.

That isn't at all what happened though. A big component of Ian being there seemed to be over a years old copyright strike grudge. And I don't think the idea for Sam was to simply act retarded, it seemed like it was to prank Ian for the sake of entertaining content and/or waste his time. Ian wasn't there on some noble crusade to prove anything about Sam because Ian has no principles anyway.

The ridiculous thing was that during the interview Sam basically used the exact same tactics to avoid answering Ian's questions in an honest way as he did with Joe Bernstein. If Ian hadn't been a lazy retard and had studied up a bit on the person he wanted to (according to you) expose as deranged, he could've very easily scoped out how Sam behaves in interviews with someone trying to catch him on the backfoot. Instead Ian let himself be put into a position where anyone with a basic understanding of body language and power dynamics could recognize as disadvantageous for Ian. It's not about Sam being a cool tough guy, it's about Ian not being prepared or having the personality to win the psychological war they got into. Whether they're both retarded or not doesn't change the facts of how their dispute panned out.

I see a lot of comments like this in this thread and it begs the question, do people unironically not get this type of humor or do they purposefully antagonize those who do for their own form of humor? Kinda boggles my mind anyone that's not entertained by this actually gives enough of a shit to become an ardent detractor.

As an aside, something else I thought of, I believe Ian kind of gives away that this interview was stoked by Ethan when he says "It's just questions that me and a lot of other people that I've talked to have about you". Call it reaching, but the only person who would have enough of a vendetta against Sam to try and punk him in this really Jewy way, is actually Ethan, not Ian.
