I think the idubbs arc showed Sam that YouTube would no longer instantly nuke anything mentioning him and that there was a path forward for him utilizing the big platforms. He was paroled from internet jail and didn't even realize until then.

It's also worth mentioning that the first time this thread got stickied it was because he bought out one of his clips channel, which is apparently cow worthy activity. The he ended up using that clips channel to host live streams 4-5 nights a week, and now it's one of the most profitable live streams currently on YouTube. The thing he was criticized the most for ended up being one of his best career moves.

Everything was slowly falling into place before the idubbz doc but it was always a fight against YT censorship. When the idubbz doc went up and didn't get taken down the groundwork was already laid for a full YouTube comeback. Then the he was able to do the whole Candyman thing without being cancelled and that pretty much cemented the fact that MDE was back for good.

Sam was definitely alt right in 2015/2016. Don't know about now tho.

He talks about his current stance in his commentary about Scott Adams. He's said all this before, this is just recent.

i get the angle, which is that it was basically them just playing "war" as fully grown men, which can be funny, but your right, there has to be some semblence of structure or story for it not to feel like a giant waste of time, like one of the running gags was that there isn't really a story, they just keep referring to "the mission" and stuff very vaguely but like, that makes it really boring because i'm not actually playing war with them, i think they got caught up in how fun it was to film the scenes and then lost sight of how it would be experienced as an audience watching the content.

You never know with these people. I also wanted to believe roleplaying as this textbook, comical caricature of a wigger had to be a joke but joey is incredibly consistent about it.
