At the same show, it was a legitimately funny series of stand up sets. Crowd was mostly late twenties/early thirties blue collar looking guys, and alt-rocker guys/gals.Saw Sam live. Forgive me I'm a little drunk but honestly wasn't too bad. Crowd energy carried a lot.
The only difference I see is the self-censorship for YouTube. He was still in prime rant form when he was doing HydeWars, specifically the car review episodes. I think when WP2 officially got the greenlight he realized that he needed to be more careful with his words for Nick and Charles sake. Was rewatching KSTV season 1 the other day and is it just me or was prebloat Sam's rage way funnier? Like now he's just always seething and ranting all the time but his anger used to feel like it had more direction and was less nihilist idk.
Completely disagree. Sam's anger now feels way more bitter and unfunny then it used to. The energy isn't the same. Like in the clip I posted you can tell he's angry but in the new shit he just seems so genuinely angry it's not even funny. The only difference I see is the self-censorship for YouTube.
If anything I guess it would have to be about T. This little event on Fishtank stands out to me, being about 5 hours apart. Though its not like Sam is genuinely reckless, or out-of-control in any serious way. Its just funny to think that he is probably a bit more angry than he would have been normally.Completely disagree. This has been my line of thinking for a long time now. He's got at least a minor case of roid rage and it's detracting from the funny. I just don't find his new stuff as amusing. This is a guy that would upload videos when he was crying on camera, talking about his appreciation of the fans, and his struggles in life. I'm also tired of hearing his bro-tier "lift weights dawg it fixes everything" spiel. No, no it doesn't.If anything I guess it would have to be about T.
It's crazy how much praise Sam gets for his super generic bro advice. I remember there was a superchat from an alcoholic fan who was asking Sam how to stop drinking and his advice was "Just stop. You can't be a serious person and drink" like if a comedian you like telling you that you can't be a serious person while drinking was all you needed to stop you were never an alcoholic to begin with.I'm also tired of hearing his bro-tier "lift weights dawg it fixes everything" spiel. At this point Nick is consistently funnier.
I would bet that it just comes down to men that have never had a positive male influence in their lives. A lot of people that are self destructive just need someone they respect enough to tell them to stop from a position of authority and experience. To find that in a Internet comedian is kinda cringe though. It's crazy how much praise Sam gets for his super generic bro advice. I never gotten an impression that he really seen himself as an advice person. He does it cos it sells and people really keep throwing money at him just to answer really obvious shit like that. I think during one of the podcasts he even said that he does it cos people ask him or expect from him. Sure it would be better if he straight up didn't do what he disliked, but he also streamed despite disliking it. Suppose there is a good reason he is in the Grift Wars section after all. It's crazy how much praise Sam gets for his super generic bro advice. You're right about this but the reason so many people gravitate toward Sam's "advice" is because there's nowhere else to get it from that's easily accessible. Outside of the financial stuff all of his advice and wisdom is reposts of 2010s manosphere bloggers and I'm pretty sure that scene died when the alt right got popular. He didn't get blacklisted for giving bad advice he got blacklisted for saying things that were true.I would bet that it just comes down to men that have never had a positive male influence in their lives. I agree, It's the same phenomena that makes people look towards people like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate as well. You're right about this but the reason so many people gravitate toward Sam's "advice" is because there's nowhere else to get it from that's easily accessible. tbh if you've ever struggled with some compulsive, addictive tendency like drank, crank or depression, it do be feel like kicking the habit, after the fact, was always just a matter of properly deciding to kick the habit and making the change or someone caring enough to tell you to, and your lapse in volition will feel like some real silly billy nonsenseMy advice for people with chronic depression is just stop. Stop being depressed. You can't be a serious person and be depressed.
Why are there so many young men in America reliant upon an internet comedian for "life advice"? What happened to this beautiful nation? You're right about this but the reason so many people gravitate toward Sam's "advice" is because there's nowhere else to get it from that's easily accessible.
