as someone whos in the game industry, i seriously doubt what sam is making will be any good
to me personally it smells like yet another grift given that its something that was apparently in the making/planning for 5+ years (i remember vids of him talking about it from way back in 201
if he has some good ideas for a game, he wouldnt start with one that:
1. requires a budget of a million or more (which implies that a game of this scale requires a decent amount of game dev experience in the first place, which he does not have)
2. requires him to "work" on it for a decade
if you know what youre doing you dont need to start with a "magnum opus" as your video game, especially if you have no outside publisher/funding and game dev experience. the last one is important, because if youve played games all your life, its good for knowing what you want in a game, but it does not equate to game design experience 1:1. making a massive game as your first one is a terrible fucking idea
given his audience he'd be better off making a small game first, raking in the cash (given his audience + if the game turned out good it'd be a no-brainer) and only move on to making a big budget game when he has enough capital (which he evidently does not yet)

true, that part is entirely on him, but can you blame him? if youve known sams work for years and how he treats people he works with, its no surprise that it happened to him, but when you love his work and discard everything bad you hear online about him - you cant make a sound decision and end up in this camp of "everyone saying bad things is lying and stupid", and when you get fucked over you go "i guess they were telling the truth"
sam discredits these people by not talking much about them (cuz he knows there is truth in what theyre saying), and when he does, he calls them psychotic or some other bs, which works - who are you going to believe? big daddy sam hyde or some editor that nobody knows? for anyone who likes his humor the answer is obvious
