Sam is smart, but he's also ignorant about a number of things and lacks correction mechanisms.

I think it's pretty clear here that he really just hasn't heard of Melbourne before:

Its easy to confuse Melbourne and Victoria and our states and stuff since we normally just call states by their city like calling it Adelaide instead of South Australia or Perth instead of WA.
The American mind simply cannot comprehend how weird Australia actually is.

Interesting. Any particular occasions where this has been apparent?
It's pretty obvious to me. This is coming from someone who doesn't like 95%+ of Sam's content outside of FT nor do I think of him as a good guy, so feel free to disregard. But I felt this very much when I tried watching his podcast recently. I won't name any specifics, but think about it: Sam has been 'cancelled' for 10+ years and has a devoted, contrarian, counter-cultural following. He only gets pushback from the mainstream (plus some schizos), and that kind of criticism is easy for him and fans to dismiss out of hand.

Very subjective, but in the podcast bit I saw he was spouting some bullshit that was factually incorrect and everyone went with it.

Yeah Mudkipcorn understands what I was getting at. Sam is the boss of MDE and basically surrounded by employees and sycophants. Even Nick is paid by Sam to go on PGL. He never has conversations with people who aren't there to glaze him up to some degree.

I'm not sure I can recall a single occasion of anyone giving Sam major pushback on a show or podcast, and Nick usually just backs down whenever there's potential for disagreement on a significant issue.

Occasionally there are moments where Sam's self-awareness briefly kicks in and he wonders whether he might not know something, but it is always swiftly dispelled by him assuming whichever possibility will best suit his preconceptions, and then him plowing on regardless.

Tbh I could write a whole long-form essay on the numerous ways in which it manifests itself, from releasing content speaking confidently about topics on which he's clueless (eg in a recent Sam Hyde Show episode saying that yoga will "leave you messed up"... ), to the numerous hypocrisies and flaws in his proclaimed politics and general world view going unquestioned and without critique. He speaks to a lot of impressionable people, and often in an irresponsible, unchecked fashion.

It's less of an issue when focusing on making comedy, but becomes more so when playing podcaster / "journalist" / guru.

So far, and we're only 2 nights in so who knows how long this will last, S4 has done a much better job of handling post-normie bedtime happenings for those of us who can't pull all-nighters. Entertaining stuff has happened each night so far, but nothing so far that I feel has been "can't miss" so I don't feel bad for keeping my normal sleep schedule, and catching up the next morning feels just fine and not like all the good stuff happens when I'm asleep, like was the case in S2 and a lot of S3. Good job on the wiggers so far for keeping the best content to normie waking hours, we'll see how long they can keep it up.

So what is the theme this season?
Ellie - camwhore, Drench - a prostitute, Freddy - had a prostitute gf, Jin - paid for prostitutes
Half 3/8 of the cast is confirmed to have been involved in prostitution one way or the other. Just like how season 1 had only one plant, it will be slowly revealed only one of the fish never had direct physical contact with a prostitute before the show

Aryeh is enjoying a breakfast of champions right now, a banana, some cold leftover chicken(?) that he had to scrape out of the pot, and some tortilla chips. He's a loud eater.

Edit: he also grabbed some snacks from yesterday and is munching on those. Dude can eat.

Edit 2: his feet are...not great.

Direnc is downstairs now, she says the upstairs toilet is fucked up (because Damniel put the doll in the tank) but has made no effort to diagnose the problem let alone try to fix it. Aryeh offers her some day-old chicken and she says "don't eat that" after he's already had like 3 or 4 pieces. He said he's already been eating it and "it's really good" and she's lecturing him on foodborne illnesses.

Aryeh said he wishes TTS was on because TTS would have warned him not to eat the chicken. I'm not sure about that.

Last edit I swear: Direnc is now teaching Aryeh how to cook, he gained a lot of trust in her after she lectured him on food safety. New allies???

But never having heard of Melbourne before and confusing it with Sydney...

Kind of cute moment happening where Drench offered to make Arye eggs, and Arye asks if she can teach him how to make eggs instead. So now she is taking him through it step by step, telling him he is doing great etc. It shows how incapable Arye is though
