Sam Hyde went on the Harland Williams podcast to promote Extreme Peace while in LA. You should watch for yourself because it’s awkward and entertaining. Here’s a summary. It’s slightly biased against Sam because I think he came off bad here.

  • If you don’t know, Harland Williams is a comedian who uses absurdist, often intentionally unfunny jokes to throw off his guests and make them the butt of the joke for reacting uncomfortably. That's a quick general summary of Harland’s style from someone who doesn’t know him well, but the context is important.
  • Harland sets the interview up by saying they just installed new cameras and mics so there will be technical difficulties. Throughout the interview there are interrupting cuts to “technical difficulties” graphics. This will be important later.
  • Sam brought on Nick, Charles, Eric Hayden, Alex Schultz and Damiel.
  • Nick, Chuck, and Damiel all chime in a few times but Eric and Alex don’t say anything.
  • Sam tries to do the same thing he did on Matan’s show by trolling the troll host.
  • Sam gets Damiel to stand next to Harland (who is sitting) to put him off guard but it doesn’t work and Harland instantly calls Damiel “lasagna lips” and everyone laughs
  • Harland asks Sam if he’s Jewish. Sam seems a little thrown off.
  • After Harland talks about his iphone, Sam tries making a serious point about tech companies but Harland doesn’t engage
  • Sam tries to make another political point about Indians but it is brushed over by Harland who just keeps making silly jokes
  • Sam asks Harland if he’s jewish and Harland says “maybe I am yeah, I had a bar mitzvah when I was 13”
  • Sam says “Are we gonna do the thing where we lie the entire time or did you really have a bar mitzvah when you were 13?”
  • Harland admits he’s not jewish
  • Sam says “talk tuah” and Harland asks if that’s an Eskimo name and if Sam would like to go to “Eskimo”. Sam says no because Alaska is the rape capital of the world because indians (native americans) are so barbaric.
  • Harland replies, “Can we have a rape talk? I’d love to talk rape. Have you been raped? You look like you have.”
  • Sam seems frazzled by this.
  • Sam flips it on Harland and asks if Harland has been raped, to which he responds yes and tells a joke story about being raped
  • Harland again asks Sam, “Have you ever been raped?”
  • Sam: “No.”
  • Harland: “Would you like to be?”

  • A few Harland non-sequitors later Sam asks, “Is the whole podcast like this? Is it just straight nonsense?”
  • Harland then asks Sam if he likes nature. Sam says no. Harland tries to throw out a nature fact about gorillas anyway: that gorillas make nests in trees every night when they want to go to sleep.
  • Harland says he’d love to see Sam make a gorilla nest
  • Sam says “Right here?” and then trashes Harland’s set, destroying or at least disconnecting all the mics by flipping over the desk.
  • The audio is much shittier for the rest of the interview.
  • Sam starts man-handling Harland and tries to shove him into the “gorilla nest” he just created
  • Harland starts wrestling with Sam. He doesn’t break character so it’s hard to tell how angry he is, if at all.
  • Harland says “I don’t even know if we’re recording anymore I think the cameras all cut out”
  • Sam keeps leaning on and manhandling Harland as the interview continues
  • Nick and Eric look extremely uncomfortable as both their Irish faces turn bright red. Damiel flees the set as soon as Sam wrecks it.
  • Harland brings in cookies and Sam refuses to eat them because they have seed oils in them.
  • Sam keeps manhandling Harland and Harland doesn’t let up on the jokes. Nick looks like he wants to crawl out of his skin as he says to Eric, “This is fun.”
  • Harland wants to get back to the interview and says to Sam, “So tell me about your childhood.”
  • Sam slaps Harland in the tit in response and then says “Stop fucking around. You’re taking serious stuff and making it funny and silly.”
  • Sam refuses to let Harland feed him a seed oil cookie :(
  • Sam and Harland bond over the fact that both of their fathers were ballerinas (lol)

  • Harland asks Sam to tell the folks watching about his "fabulous new sketch show"
  • Sam explains the entire backstory to World Peace’s cancellation and the road to Extreme Peace and all of it is cut due to “technical difficulties” via graphics mentioned earlier
  • Sam asks that Harland comes to the Extreme Peace premiere and Harland agrees after assuring Sam he’s not fucking with him and then winks at Nick
  • Harland asks Sam to “tell us about your journey with the gang, how you got here…”
  • Sam says “You are just making fun of us”
  • Harland says he went to animation college just like Sam. Sam says he hates animation students. Harland says “I hate them all. I hate you. I really hate you, and I love you.”
  • Sam: “You better come to our show or I’m gonna trash your fucking house.”
  • Harland: “I’ll trash your wife. I’ll trash your sister’s brace face.”
  • Sam: “You’ll trash her pussy?”
  • Harland: “I’ll trash that too.”
  • They wrap the episode with Harland saying he’ll go with them to Sam’s premiere and fuck his sister
  • “Any final words, Sam?”
  • “One love… and heil hi-” - cuts to technical difficulties screen and podcast ends

All contestants are forced to eliminate each other in a sneaky way and have a 12 Angry Men-esque trial every time someone is eliminated to determine "whodunnit". It's just perfect and would generate lots of drama and content by ripping it off.

Danganronpa-tank would be kino. Imagine Sam trying to do a Monokuma like character. 999-tank would be fun too but nobody who signs up for Fishtank would even be able to figure out the base mechanic.

Nick was visibly cringing at Sam. Sam was acting like a total sperg it was really strange. I think he thought it was going to be like Matan's podcast or something. Harland's a jokester but he never trolls people or anything. Sam just made himself look like a grade A goober for the first time I've ever seen. Unless Harland and him planned all of this before hand, harland is never going to have anything to do with MDE again.

A lot of Nu-MDE zoomer cultists are parading around going "You idiots don't know this is a bit?" because they know if it's not Sam looks like a total jackass. But that's the story of MDE right? MDE gets into the limelight and Sam sabotages it by being Sam. Even if it was a bit I don't think Sam came across great either way. Sam tends to get exposed by actual standup comedians and never knows how to "yes and" along with them. I like MDE, more so their old stuff, but god damn if Sam and his wigger crew make it incredibly hard to recommend them to anyone that isn't terminally online.

While I think the harland stuff is a bad look for sam, I doubt there's any bad blood formed from the chimp out. Harland isn't ever the type to let up or give up on a bit which absolutely saves the show. It being filmed the day of the LA premiere is also interesting, I'm sure that didn't help the nerves. I also hate that they bring around damiel everywhere. Filipino flesh homunculus is so allergic to actually being funny in conversation. People saying this ruins sam's chances at rogan, and to that I say if those two fatherless men ever get in a room together they may pull out each other's throats lmao. He's in an interesting spot now where he actually has his foot in the door with a lot of these big LA types. That EP mention by Gillis on JRE was very generous and nice of shane, but it'd honestly make me anxious as hell if I were sam.
