I have the book that has that gravity theory in it. I remember reading it as a teenager and thinking it was a neat thought experiment. As you say, a real scientist isn't annoyed or intimidated by these - instead it's an opportunity to explain why it doesn't work as a predictive model and why our current models are better.

I kinda respected him because he explicitly says at the end "I'm not saying my theory is correct, I'm just blah blah blah". However, nowadays I can see that that was just lies, that he really did think his theory was some groundbreaking revelation, and that framing was just to give him wriggle room to weasel out of it when someone smarter pointed out all the holes. Seems like that's been his modus operandi for years.

I have that book too. I agree; of all the insufferable things Scott does, the weasel Devil’s Advocate is my least favorite. In God’s Debris, he presents all his grandiose theories (ones he has strenuously repeated in the subsequent 20 years since publication) and then says “the REAL thought experiment is deducing what is wrong with the Old Man’s theories!” No, Scott. The Old Man is clearly you. You put that line in there as a trap door if someone disproves your arguments. We all know what you’re doing.

Got famous for this video talking about seasoning food. Apparently a bunch of blacks thought seasoning salts were key to cooking anything and didn't realize how retarded they sound when they act like dehydrated onion could be worse than real onion.

Things went nuts and even got into the news as blacks complained "seasoning police" was racist because it was solely blacks getting upset at the idea that seasoning salts may not be required in all cooking.

She didn't even mention niggers, or even watermelon. What is Lawry's Seasoned Salt now a synonym for nigger? It's the nigger seasoning? I have some of that shit myself. It's basic bitch, but sometimes I like basic bitch. There's also nothing wrong with garlic powder or onion powder, but damn, learn some other shit too.

I hope she actually was deliberately antagonizing whatever groids would actually be pissed off by that, because those are the ones constantly bitching about how dem damn crackas ain't nevah learnt to season dey food.

Maybe Scott thinks he came up with the "living in a simulation" idea. He did talk about it before academia got retarded enough to let Nick Bostrom have a job.

For all Scott talks of being a master at sniffing out bullshit, he's terrible at figuring out when he's being conned

On some stream (back when Kristina still lived with him) he tells a "simulation story" where he always had a premonition that if the middle knob in his shower were ever used something terrible would happen, so he never turned it, but Kristina did, and it broke, after which the repair guys found thing after thing wrong with his house, including the water heater, but when they moved it UH OH! One bolt "fell out" while they were moving it, and they couldn't just screw it back in, the whole thing was ruined so he needed to buy a new one in accordance with his memory of the future.

As someone in the comments said, "Now your repair guy can buy a new Humvee, so what?" It never seems to have occurred to Scott that the repair guys might have been finding thing after thing wrong to fix as they always do to upsell you, only made easier by his paranoid belief that it was all the result of his bitch turning knob as he foretold

Or that Kristina wanted the house renovated by cheapskate Scott, broke the knob on purpose an slipped a 20 to the repair guys to find all the other faults. Ether way he got conned.
