Looking back on previous posts I made, you can see this in spades with how freaked out I was over getting permabanned, especially since quarantine made SCP wiki basically a hobby to me for a while. This can happen with any community, but the issue with the SCP wiki is that it reinforces this aspect of, well, the internet, by having so many little circles within circles, IRC chat within IRC chat, discussion pages within discussion pages. It can be very easy to get stuck in it. I was a member of the wiki for 5 years before my ban, which is definitely small compared to the numbers some of you guys have on here, but 5 years is more than enough to develop that dopamine loop that is so easy to get hooked on. Granted, you can look at my activity and see I did very little during that time, but I think my point still stands. Stay safe out there.- Better acknowledge the SCP Wiki burnout/mental breakdown problem. The SCP community should not serve as a replacement or stand-in for real life social circles but there are far too many people who treat it that way with or without realizing it. It's not healthy at all and it's a big part of the reason why it's so difficult for people to leave when they badly need to. A lot of the users who try to open up about it get laughed out by people caught in the same cycle.
Edit:
Banning somebody, preventing the chance for appeal, and then blocking or ignoring their attempts to appeal again or discuss what's going on? This sounds strangely familiar to me.Previous chat logs I've posted here show that well. In this one, she recommends banning meta immediately and have all staff block him so that he can't contact them to appeal or discuss what is to become of his work. Has this happened before? How many times has a banned user attempted to contact SCP staff to get their works down, but fail to because they've pulled this move... the public none the wiser? This is your staff?
In other news, I have heard absolutely nothing from any of the SCP staff (who haven't prematurely blocked me) on what the spooky mystery info is. I mean, we know what it is, they know what it is, but they can't afford to actually say it.
