Being a casual browser of both this SCP thread and SCPs proper, I was perhaps naïve in my opinion of the narrators. I would very much appreciate if anyone could link any half decent video/podcast which discusses the quality decline.
I will be fair and say that there are some people, even posts on Reddit, talking about it. But it's very...safe. For example they'll mention how YouTubers will just make videos reading off the articles and how they rarely do anything different. They're sometimes thoughtful and criticize certain safe to criticize SCPs but they fail to get into the real causes because they'd get banned instantly and downvoted to hell before their post is deleted. Outside of Reddit it's not too different. Seriously, try looking for anything talking negatively about SCP, you'll find jack shit aside from during the height of the drama back in 2018, on YouTube you'll probably find a video on someone criticizing SCP: Secret Lab, 5K, Confinement, low hanging fruit essentially. Hell I only ever found one person talking about the Secret Lab pedophile issue. Otherwise you'll find videos from-again-years ago. I did post a
video of someone shitting on SCP (and RPC, funny video) a while ago but it's rare for a video like that to even exist. Even rarer will you see someone mention it's origin from 4chan as that's "probamatic" and I've already mentioned what they do to such "problems." I found more discourse from the comment section of
this video than anywhere else. Also of course a guy who looks like this would defend SCP from Jim's video.
(used to be really into it in the powerscaling community, and read a SHIT ton of SCPs)
Fuckin' same man, was really fun for a while.
"Wow how do these utterly dogshit SCPs get such high scores?"
Remember, SCP is not above botting their competition with low ratings, makes you wonder if they're botting high ratings too. SCP is also hesitant to check for fake ratings and will even deny it.
The Series I articles just have a certain, well, vibe to them that I can't really put to words, and I haven't seen anything yet that replicates them.
And you never will, even moving past any nostalgia. The SCP community is pretty against the old SCPs and have even started to rewrite most of them as we discussed a while ago. You see the comments on the topic of keeping the old SCPs as they are and you'll see zoomers go "ew, old things bad." Seriously it's infuriating to see these newfags go "oh the new shit is so much better because they're our generation made them, the old shit was a product of its time but has aged poorly." Contempt is all I have for them. Any SCP with the vibes of the first SCP articles is unlikely be given attention or even rated poorly. Maybe in between writing my garbage works I'll make some videos shitting on Nu-SCP and post it around to see how many seethe. Speaking of seething and "old bad new good":
What a slimy looking faggot. What a fucking comment section.
The cognitive dissonance is staggering. He hates himself, he hates the website, he hates the trannies constantly inventing new inane bullshit to screech about, yet he can't admit they're the problem and he can't leave.
You know, 3999 could actually be a decent SCP if it wasn't for all the fourth wall breaks with the teary-eyed self-loathing self-insert shit, it's just so fucking cringe man.
+2718 by the way, kek. There's also this plebbit
post calling it "one of the greatest works on the site." They really are clueless aren't they? The writer hates all that SCP has become, won't admit it because "muh wrongthink," and people eat it up.
